Thoroughly enjoyable 1975 live set!,

This CD features 10 tracks from two separate performances in 1975. The first 6 tracks boast great sound quality and high energy, both of which are missing on the last 4 (which is why it gets four stars, not five). There are great versions of Panama Red, Henry, and Glendale Train. This is also the only place to currently hear Instant Armadillo Blues, with the great first half by Skip Battin, who plays bass and sings. This is a good example of the NRPS at the time their golden era was winding down.

Should have stayed hidden underground,

This is a terrible live recording. It is cheaply done(sounds like Twenty dollar tape recorder. the playing is Okay but the singing I think is awful. Reading the back we know why it was released but I think it should have stayed on the cutting room floor. StayAway

Sometimes when I read these reviews it seems like I'm one of the only people who remembers the old bootlegs we used to savor from our favorite bands like the New Riders. The sound quality on the first six tunes of this album is very good, with perhaps the best live "Henry" I've ever heard. It's an electric sound that has not been featured yet on their live releases, and I totally agree with the previous review of this album in that the energy is high and contagious. However, I enjoy the second part, as well, despite some hiss and an abyssmal "La Bamba" (why?!) Saying that the sound is enough to avoid this release entirely shows me how spoiled some people are in this digital age. This is more than worthy of your collection, although it's a bit pricey for the number of tunes.
