Anyone who has heard this album can easily agree that John is one of the rare masters of jazz around today. It's a daunting task for a jazz artist to interpret such well-known tunes, but John makes them both faithful and original. He provides a classical touch, harmonic subtlety and, when in tempo, a swinging propulsion. Above all, what one hears is a love of this music. What more can be asked of an artist than to make what they love so much instantly apparent to the rest of us? Many thanks, John.
