Biography

LADYTRON earned a decade’s worth of acclaim by relentlessly pushing boundaries, carving out new sonic and conceptual space and refusing to abide any formula or trend.

So it’s testimony to their craft to say that Gravity The Seducer, the fifth album from the electro-pop provocateurs, is vintage Ladytron — because, like each of the four preceding albums, it’s not ... Read more in Amazon's Ladytron Store

Editorial Reviews

Originally pressed as a one-time 1000 copy run in a simple cardboard slipcase for sales off the stage, the band have now agreed to a legitimate digipack reissue of this, their only authentic live release. Ladytron toured throughout the continent before beginning work on their debut EP, Commodore Rock, which was released in the summer of 2000, providing their fans another foray into the noisy world of early-'80s sound. The studio full-length 604 followed a year later, and gained many positive reviews. 2002 saw the release of Light & Magic and the mix album Softcore Jukebox. The group returned in the summer of 2005 with the Sugar single, which heralded the Rock edge of Ladytron's third album, Witching Hour. Extended Play, which featured remixes of Witching Hour's singles, arrived the following spring. Ladytron moved to Nettwerk for their fourth album, Velocifero which they produced themselves.

To me, Ladytron live sounds better than Ladytron recorded in the studio. I own the first two Ladytron albums, a few MP3 songs from Velocifero, and now the Live at the London Astoria album, and the live album is hands down my favorite to listen to. It's got nearly 80 minutes of music on it, and Helen Marnie is in great voice. Great album. If you love Ladytron you'll love it.

Ladytron is a rare electronic band that can pull off quality live versions that have the same energy as any live rock show should have. This album does them justice.

I was a little reluctant to buy a live album, having listened to a lot of bootleg and poor quality video online of their tour material. My fears were unjustified. This album is very cleanly produced and really sounds great. If you're someone who has their whole collection and want to hear raw and energetic (but completely listenable) versions of their songs, or if you're someone who wants a good sample of songs from their first four albums, this is worth the money. I would have liked to see Cease2exist or even Cracked LCD on this album, but otherwise the song selection is pretty solid. (Even the underappreciated Burning Up is on here, which is my personal fave... Thanks Ladytron!)

I like this concert because the version of some songs like International Dateline, Runaway, True Mathematics, Season of Illusions are amazing, I think they are better than the studio version. I recommend this album.

For the dedicated Ladytron fan this is an obvious purchase. If you have been fortunate to see them Live, it's a source of memories. For those that haven't had the chance to, it's the best we can do.
