5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant April 25, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This CD places Warren Haynes in near perfect light. One disc of original songs mostly drawn from the Man In Motion CD, and one CD including brilliant covers such as Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic and arguably the highlight of the CD a cover of Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come.

Throughout, Warren is in fine voice and the background musicians are tight. The recording quality is excellent, and Warren's guitar playing runs the gauntlet from simmering to scorching hot.

I highly recommend this CD. Absolutely brilliant

5.0 out of 5 stars Warren's best to date? September 3, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been watching Warren Haynes for years. First with the ABB, then with the Mule, with Phil and Friends, with "The Dead" 2004 and 2009, and back with the ABB again. I don't want to get hyped out, but this may be Warren's finest work to date. All the songs from his recent studio release "Man in Motion" come alive here with the addition of a sax, then ultimately a horn section. He's assembled a talented group of musicians, and his guitar playing has never been better. This is a fantastic combination of R and B plus rock that he pulls off seemingly effortlessly. A must have for Haynes fans. For those folks unfamiliar with Warren's work, this is the place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep bringing it Warren April 28, 2012
By jam2009
Format:Audio CD
Sad to say if your don't understand the greatness that Warren is, this or any review is simply not objective from any standpoint. Warren, in my mind, and probably a lot of musicians, truly one of the most talented players we have right now. His flavorings and choice of where he takes his music are always a joyful journey. The Warren Haynes Band is a perfect example of this and a side project that his Mule Bandmates are all the better for as it pushes them all to continue to explore music in new directions. Not all journeys arrive at the intended destination, but something can be learned even with wrong turns. This set however, is a trek to not only a true landing point for Warren, but a place he was always meant to visit.
The quality of the recordings are great and as much as I liked the Man in Motion CD, Warren is at his best in a live setting where he always expands on the original material in new and exciting ways. I had the pleasure of seeing this project in action twice in the last year and truly loved the sound. The Mule gets back together this year after a year in hibernation an can't wait to see where th past layoff takes the band. As for this effort on CD and DVD if you are a fan, don't hesitate, if your not in the club already and like the AllBros, the Dead, Tedeski Trucks, the who, the stones, Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Sly and the family, Santana, heck anyone with a great guitar flavor combined with or without funk, you are in for a treat.

Now we're talking. Nasty, emotion packed, inspired live music. I bought this the other day based on hearing Warren on both 2010 Crossroads, and then buying his Man In Motion CD. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!
I much prefer Warren's "Man In Motion" CD to this one, which contains many of the same tunes, plus some covers that feature less-than-sterling performances.
