Ella Fitzgerald Live In Tokyo 1983,

If you are an Ella Fitzgerald die hard fan, this video release is another must have! Although, at age 66 years of age, when this concert took place, Ella's voice was now showing signs of wear from years of performing.. Still, she could always deliver the goods, and does in this wonderful concert.. She is backed by the Paul Smith trio, with whom she had worked with for years, and then is joined by Joe Pass only, for a Duke Ellington medley and a great version of Georgia On My Mind. The evening comes to a close, with Flying Home, with Ella, Harry "Sweets" Edison(tp), Clark Terry(flhrn), J.J. Johnson, Al Grey(tb), Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Zoot Zims(ts), Joe Pass(g), Oscar Peterson(p), Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen(b) and Louie Bellson(d). This concert was filmed at the Yoyogi National Stadium, Tokyo, Japan, October 17, 1983.
