4.0 out of 5 stars MegadetH Live Trax, July 10, 2000

This CD is 31 minutes of head banging, fist pumping speed metal! An excellent selection of songs, with "Angry Again" and "Tornado of Souls" but what really surprised me was that my favorite MegadetH song "Peace Sells.." was on here as an unlisted track! (Immediatly following "Reckoning Day") I would have rather had a complete show without the fade in and out between songs, but instead you do get good sound quality from 2 different MegadetH shows. The CD book has lyrics for all of the "listed" songs in English & Japonese. A little expensive, but a treasured import in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Some of Megadeth's Greatest Hits, Performed Live", October 8, 2003

This 1997 EP is a great indication of what a live Megadeth show would sound like. Too bad they broke up 5 years after the release of the album, but their music, & Dave Mustaine, will live on forever. What you get here is a selection of Megadeth's greatest hits from 1986 to 1997, recorded during their
"Cryptic Writings" Tour. The CD opens with a medley of "Reckoning Day" & "Peace Sell", which is brilliant. Next, you get 1993's "Angry Again", "Tornado of Souls (1990's "Rust in Peace")", "A Tout Le Monde (Youthanasia, 1994)", as well as a few from the "Cryptic Writings" album. Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, and Nick Menza sound tighter than ever, and come close to rivaling Metallica's "Live Boxed Set", released 4 years earlier. Fans of Metallica, Ozzy, Pantera, and Slayer, will love this rare disc. It is supposedly
Out-Of-Print, so get a copy while you still can.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would have bought this solely for 'Tornado of Souls', February 11, 2005
This review is from: Live Trax (Audio CD)
Any big Megadeth-90s-era fan would appreciate this CD. It's rather expensive for a six-song CD ('Peace Sells' is a hidden track, making the CD seven songs long actually), but it's rare and just plain cool to have. As for the music, 'Reckoning Day' and the June 13, 1997 performances sounds rather thin, with no backing vocals as well, but Mustaine's live voice is at its best tone (but not that in tune). 'Peace Sells' has a problem in the fast part, where the weak snare makes the supposed-to-be-driving beat ambiguous.
As I said above, if only for 'Tornado of Souls,' recorded in February 25, 1995, this CD is so worth it. It's the best Megadeth live track I've ever heard, even though Mustaine's voice isn't at its best (still good though), with a live sound so intense at the very first note and with the harmonic riff starting. The sound is just so huge and heavy. Oh, one little thing. The bass at some parts in 'Tornado' isn't very deep-sounding; when a low B is supposed to be playing ("I warned you of your fate..."), a G is implied rather. It's bugged me for years.
'A Tout Le Monde' sounds rather good. In this CD, it's the 1995 show; in Live Trax II, it's the 1997 show, where Marty's guitar tech screws up in the solo.
The last song, 'She-Wolf' is done okay, but with scrambled lyrics near the start. It would've been cooler if they had done extended solos even then.
Buy it, as a collector, and as a lover of 'Tornado of Souls.'
Oh, and I treasure this CD more than the Marty-less and strained-vocaled 'Rude Awakening.' That says a lot, in pitting seven songs against twenty-plus in one of Megadeth's low points.
