3.0 out of 5 stars Expected better!
To start with I would like to say that I enjoy Queen and Paul Rodger's music very much! The complaints I have with this product has nothing to do with the artists or the live show put on by them. My complaints are the following- the sound quality of the audio cd's is not good in my opinion and also nobody told me that the dvd would not play on a regular dvd player! You...

Despite the fact that some people didn't like tha fact that QUEEN was with another front man "replacing" Freddie Mercury (what is not really true), I found this union really good. QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS gave us a unique union with quality, performance, stage e a supperb world tour. I had the oportunity to see them alive in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 26 November 2008. A perfect show. You have to know that Paul Rodgers is "simply" a unique singer. Don't try to compare him with Freddie. It is another singer, but a huge voice and talent. This is a great CD/DVD show. I also reccomend THE COSMOS ROCK CD, the QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS studio CD. A unique union, with Queen songs and, also, Free and Bad Company songs by Paul Rodgers. Special. I hope they join again in a short future. God save the Queen + Paul Rodgers!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Queen" + "Bad Company" = "Kickass Rock", May 9, 2010

This is a really good album and DVD, with a lot of emphasis on the DVD. I have been a Queen fan since day one, they have consistantly blown me away album after album. When Freddie Mercury passed, I figured there would be no more Queen. Then I saw Brian May "live" at a small venue in Atlanta in the mid 90's touring with Cozy Powell on drums. It was an awesome show, Brian not only carried the vocals but proved that he could have been a lead singer in Queen. Don't misunderstand, Freddie was a once in a lifetime singer/showman, but what I mean is that Brian has a voice that can sing the Queen songs.
Now let's talk about Paul Rodgers, singer/showman extrordinaire with "Free", "Bad Company" and a host of other projects. Obviously one of the premier rock and blues singers of the past few decades.
The resulting marriage of these two powerhouse talents, gives the listener a "best of both worlds" opportunity to enjoy this music all over again with a new slant. It seems that as you hear these songs, you are not compelled to compare, but to enjoy the new influences brought on by the blending of these talents. Wisely, we are not given a "Bohemian Rhapsody" remake, but a tribute and recognition to the great Freddie, it is handled with respect and reverence in a most tasteful manner.
The "Free" and "Bad Company" songs are also done in such a way as to pay tribute to the Rock and Roll Gods for giving us these great songs in the first place. In the words of Argent and later Kiss, "God gave Rock and Roll To Us", this album and DVD are a prime example of the longevity of great writing and playing. Some of these songs are over 35 years old and still sound fresh and new, and if we were hearing them anew, undoubtedly, we would make them hits all over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Queen is here and ROCKIN!!!, June 15, 2010

This concert is one of Queen's best. Paul Rodgers sings but Freddie has some parts too via video.
He is not forgotten. But for all you Queen fans to quote Brian May, Freddie is gone and we are not.
And they are doing what they do best which is create and play great music. The very best. This concert was a real feat of engineering and I was so moved by their video of Freddie and their caring for the cause of aids prevention. The feeling in this show was of history being made. As far as I know they had never played in the Ukraine before and you see all these people mainly younger, singing the songs. ) The Ukraine is apparently very threatened with a big aids problem right now. Queen was asked to help and did so, in their usual holy cow! How are we going to pull this one off?! Style! As usual the stage show was cutting edge, the crowd was record breaking- min estimate 350,000 attending plus 20 million reached via television. The light show, the technical perfection, the whole fantastic presentation. It was very moving. I also have a new appreciation for Paul Rodgers as well, he is an incredible singer. He didn't try to replace Freddie but had his own style and the songs are just put together to suit the new lineup well. The usual Queen exacting attention to detail and highest standards shines through.
Plus this has the concert with the CDs you can listen to in the car. Its great to have both.
PS. I have spoken to people a little older who listened to Queen before and have told me yeah but Freddie isn't here anymore, the only thing I can say is yes, true, but this is still so incredible
its not exactly the same because obviously its a different singer but please come to present time and don't waste the chance of seeing and listening to Queen. Besides, somehow it still feels like he's with us anyway. And I know he would've loved this concert!

Beware that PAL region code will NOT, as a rule, play on U.S. DVD machines. They do, however, play on computers outfitted with DVD drives.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mighty Power of Rock and Roll...., December 16, 2011

Paul Rodgers and Queen - A great combination of Talent. This review is for the DVD and two CD set. The two hour show is great, with songs from the past and present catalog of music. The DVD and CDs have identical songs.

The widescreen transfer is excellent and the editing is great. There are two sound-tracks on the DVD - Stereo and DTS 5.1. The low bass fills the room from the sub-woofer. The two CDs are in Stereo and sound great too.

The song that stands out to me is '39, followed by a great drum solo and then I'm in Love with my Car (Great Line - "Cars don't talk back").

Overall a great show - Fans of Paul Rodgers and Queen will be satisfied. There are strong vocals by Paul and great guitar work from Brian. Also, there are a few video archives of Freddie on the screen as a visual and audio tribute.

The best feature - Subtitles - (the song lyrics) can be selected and viewed during the entire show. (Not often found on a concert DVD).

Hope this helps, j.

We love Queen and have enjoyed the audio CDs, however, the DVD is PAL and we are in the US, so we still haven't been able to convert it. When we do, we look forward to seeing the show! Wish us luck!!

You have to have HD or Blu-ray hooked to an HD TV in order to watch the dvd. So I spent money on a dvd that I was looking forward to enjoying but, now can't watch. This is no where on the packaging or the product info on this site that I can see. It just says DVD on the packaging! Anyway, Queen and Paul Rodgers still ROCK and hopefully I can enjoy watching this concert in full on someone else's TV!

I kind of avoided this release at first because I was disappointed that there weren't more songs from the Cosmos Rocks album. Why should I get this album which is going to be basically a re-do of the Return of the Champions album from 2005? Well, I decided to get this anyway, and I am so happy that I did. This is almost a totally different listening experience than Return of the Champions was. Even where the setlist was similar, the renditions were changed. I still wished that they would have included some more Cosmos Rocks tunes, but over all I'm very happy with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Queen and Paul Rodgers do it again., February 14, 2010

Die-hard Queen fans who have gotten over the 'Freddy's gone, nobody should replace him' thing will definitely love this concert dvd. For those still living in the past, just skip it and You Tube some Freddy stuff from 1980 or something. Seriously, though, this was an amazing concert, over 350,000 Russians rocking out hard to a fast-paced, energetic concert. The band was in top form and Paul Rodgers again proves why he is considered the best rock singer, period. He continues to amaze with his ability to take songs that were so definitely Queen hits and reinvent them and give them an entirely new feel. He brings a raw, bluesy feel to hits like I Want to Break Free, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and the Show Must Go On, the latter never having been performed by Freddy Mercury live, making it feel more like a Paul Rodgers creation. The new tunes, C-Lebrity and Rocking the Cosmos are uptempo and played with ease by the band. My only complaint would be too much indulgence in some of Brian May's and Roger Taylor's 'pet project' songs and not enough time for Rodgers' own material. He does an understated, lovely version of Shooting Star, but a few more chances for the band to play some more Free music would be better. All in all, a nice compromise for both Queen fans and Paul Rodgers enthusiasts.
