I got my DVD copy of this at the same time I got Sarah Mc Lachlan's "Mirrorball", so my review may be somewhat biased in favor of the latter (which I believe is superior in both sound quality and overall "investment worthiness").

Don't get me wrong; I'm a diehard Carlisle fan and have been collecting her LP's/CD's (solo + Go-Go's) for years. I'm just somewhat disappointed with certain renditions in "Runaway Live". "Mad About You", for instance; Belinda was virtually drowned out by offkey-sounding second voices. Also a terrible-looking white-colored pant-suit outfit at the start ( later redeemed, however, when she changed into a dark, lacy dress and bare feet a la Mc Lachlan!).

Having said this, the DVD does have its high points. I especially liked her live performance of "Summer Rain", "I Get Weak", "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" and "World Without You". Despite these songs being personal favorites, I think that the blending of both Carlisle's distinctly raspy voice and that of her back-ups, along with strings, was perfect in these cuts. This plus the fact that it's the only available Belinda Carlisle DVD to date makes "Runaway Live" a worthwile investment for both fans of Belinda and retro/pop/new-wavers alike. Hence the four-star rating.

I wish they eventually come out with a music video collection (Belinda + Weidlin + Go-Go's perhaps).

Convincing eyes...my heart is tangled up...I shake inside...I Get Weak everytime I see her! Belinda is still a perfect woman, looking good in her black and shiny dress (the white one is not...). But, unfortunately, she has not her beautiful long red hair, only a short cut :-( But she's an angel, with the corresponding voice.

The disc I have ... has no region coding and no extras. Only a bit textual information about her solo career. I am missing extras like VH1 Behind the Scenes and video clips. It cost nothing! No picture gallery and no alternative angles. The sound is very good for a 2-channel recording. There is no PCM stereo and no multi-channel sound as well :-( The only you have is a Dolby Digital 2.0 without any low-frequency effects. There is almost no bass drum to hear. It would be great to have the same in dts quality...or even non-compressed PCM sound. You've got nothing you wouldn't get on a VHS tape. The picture quality is moderate in 4:3 format.

The 80 min. concert is great. She is dominating with hear lead voice and the background vocal is also excellent. All musicans deliver superb musical performance.

Ovarall? A must-have disc for all fans, excellent concert, beautiful Belinda but very few extras. So go and spend an evening with Belinda in your own room...yes, I have daydreams sometimes :-)

Belinda just didn't seem in to the whole concert thing, she performed like she wished she was somewhere else. She did seem to loosen up a bit when she changed clothes, but it still seemed like I was attending a lecture rather than some pop music. What does that mean? The setting was just not right. Still if you like Belinda she seems to aging gracefully.

I just bought this DVD last weekend, and I love it. Filmed on her 'Runaway Horses'tour in 1990, she is in top form on this concert. 17 songs, that are non-stop fun. All of the hits from her early solo days are here: 'Mad About You', 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth', 'Circle In The Sand', 'I Get Weak', and 'Leave A Light On'. She performs all 10 songs off of the 'Runaway Horses' album, as well as her 2 favorite GO-GO's songs: 'Our Lips Are Sealed' and 'We Got The Beat'. Her songs are a great mix of fast and slow, never missing a beat. Belinda has such a sexy, beautiful voice, and the proof is here in this concert. I got to see her with the GO-GO's last year, and that concert was equally as good.(non-stop fun, one of the greatest concerts I've ever been to) I also recommend the GO-GO's new DVD 'Live From Central Park'. If you want to watch 2 great DVD's, pick up both of these DVD's, 'Runaway Live' and 'GO-GO's Live From Central Park' and get ready to rock!

Not a lot to comment on I have just played this DVD and of course Belinda shows her talent in this performance,
The transfer is fairly good on the video side but the AUDIO is very bad in fact a shocking mix, I know this is a 13 year old recording. I have spent a lot of hard earned dollars to have gear that produces a repoduction that delivers quality audio but rubbish in rubbish out. a remaster is what this DVD needs it's a lousy audio field .I would not recommend it to any one who wants quality .cos! this doesnt deliver much at all

This is a great DVD concert, I loved every second of it. 17 songs performed over a quick 80 minutes on the Runaway Horses tour in 1990. All the classics are here, 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth', 'Circle In The Sand', 'I Get Weak', 'Mad About You' and 'Leave A Light On'. She also performs all 10 of the songs off of the Runaway Horses album, as well as 2 Go-Go's classics: 'We Got The Beat' and 'Our Lips Are Sealed'. Belinda is beautiful and her voice is beautiful, this is truly a classic performance. The musicians and the backup singers all do a very good job. Belinda gives a classic, flawless performance. This is a must have for any Belinda or Go-Go's fan. I highly recommend this one. If you don't have it, get it. ROCK ON!

well i recently purchased this dvd along with many others so that i can have a visual way close to Belinda bedides her cd's.

i must say that while you can easily identify the perfection in her voice although live , the sound engineers of the concert didn't capture the magic .Belinda is amazing, perfoming almost as good as in the studio .she dances barefoot on the carpets placed on stage and her looks is as always breathtaking.a very full tracklist and nice musicians.

but the sound is not equivalent to belinda's magic. still is a very nice concert and it will deliver the emotions of belinda's songs.

Although this DVD contains a collection of Belinda's greatest songs, but the performance of she and the band is so so and not outstanding. The quality of picture is not very clear, either. But this is the only DVD collection you can buy now.

For you all Carlisle fans out there. You're probably like me. You gonna go get this DVD no matter what you read here. So I did. What a big disappointment. It's amazing there are 2 or 3 reviews here actually took the words right out of my mouth. In short, the show was bad, the lighting was bad, her hair was bad, her make up was bad. You can see the negative effect of drugs and alcohol on a performing artist. Although for most other artists it work the positive way!!! She didn't prepare much for the concert. She didn't want to be there. She was just going through the motion. Although the rest of the band was trying a lot harder and wasn't bad. Honestly, I don't see how some can give it a 5 stars. You know a 5 star performance when you see one. ANd this one is far away from being one. But hey, I'm a fun so I got it. That's what a fan do. But I wouldn't mind giving it away if anyone wants it. I'm just gonna keep listening to her CD and forget about this DVD.

Belinda Carlisle's video isn't the best one I have seen. It appears that in some places she or the back-up singers are even off key. I have played without the video in my car and that is when you really notice it the poor audio. It is not really worth buying for quality.
