4.0 out of 5 stars The CD is alright, but get it for the DVD,, December 9, 2004
This review is from: Live Wire (CD & DVD Package) (Audio CD)
Since the spring of this year, Third Day have supported their latest studio release "Wire," with the "Live Wire Tour." The July 22 show in Louisville, Kentucky was taped for this CD/DVD package titled "Live Wire." I will say I do wish there could have been some more songs included, especially on the CD, which contains 9 live tracks, plus one new studio cut, "Thank You All," a tribute to the fans. Seven of the 9 live tracks are songs from Wire, plus "Sing A Song" (from Offerings II) and "Blackbird", from the band's first album. What you do get here sounds very good, it's a great recording of a very good live show. But the real reason to get "Live Wire" is the DVD, the band's third live DVD. In addition to all of the songs from the CD, the DVD contains 4 more songs--"Consuming Fire," "My Hope is You," "Show Me Your Glory" and "You Are Mine." The DVD also contains a rockumentary, a video for "Thank You All," photos, a promo trailer and a World Vision video package ("Offering"). The "Live Wire" set is a great concert package from Third Day, but I will say you'll want to get it more for the DVD than the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good way to see what they're like live, February 14, 2005
This review is from: Live Wire (CD & DVD Package) (Audio CD)
Overall I give this package 5 stars as the music is great and it's always good to see them live but there are a couple things that keep from giving it 5 enthusiastic stars. First of all, the price. $25 is an awful lot these days. If you compare the price to other live dvd and cd packages I think you'll find this one about $5 more and in some cases as much as $10 more. The second small complaint I have is that there's only 9 live tunes (and 1 studio track) on the music disc. It's just an opinon but if it's going to be a true live album shouldn't it be the full limit of what the disc can hold? I've seen third day a couple times in concert and can attest to the fact that they play at least 76 minutes (the max amount of space for a music cd) I would of liked to have more music.

A part from those complaints I think any Third Day fan will be happy with the overall package. The music is great and the dvd is great and worth the money, even if it is a little more than I'd like.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Way to See Them Again, March 15, 2005

I got to see Third Day twice last year (2004), once in Phoenix, Arizona and then later that fall in Columbus, Ohio. Both of those shows were in big arenas, so I enjoyed the smaller scale and intimacy of the Louisville show featured in the DVD of this package.

The sound and picture are both great. A must-have for any Third Day fan. It's a little pricey, but I'll probably buy some copies for friends as gifts (or just a way of introducing them to Third Day).

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, awesome package ...., November 30, 2004
This review is from: Live Wire (CD & DVD Package) (Audio CD)
Third Day, pound for pound, song for song, is the greatest Christian rock band, now that dc Talk is on hold and the Pete Stewart-Lonnie Chapin lineup of TAIT is gone. This DVD, for the most part, does this great group justice. (Although nothing compares to actually seeing them live, standing in front of them, and hearing their songs played in concert - their Little Rock show in May, 2004, was the best-sounding, best-mixed concert I've ever heard.) I wish the DVD's concert portion was a little longer than 64 minutes, but I refuse to dock this set one star because of the accompanying audio CD and the DVD's documentary and extras. Pick it up today. It's well worth the small asking-price. And besides, like the best groups, Third Day sounds even better live than their already-great studio CDs. Hard to believe that it's still the original five guys, without any lineup changes in between their first album and this new DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Third Day, September 21, 2005

A lot of things can go wrong with a live DVD. Get an uncomfortable venue or undesirable performance date, and you're pretty much stuck with a subpar recording. Luckily, all of this has been avoided on Third Day's most recent live DVD.

I catch Third Day every time they make it to the Pacific Northwest, and they never disappoint. This tour was no exception. Most of the songs are taken from their Wire cd, although they bring a few classics out as well. How many times has "My Hope Is You" been presented to the public as a live recording? Not enough--it's always a welcome addition, in my book. I have especially enjoyed the more funky, up-tempo version of "Black Bird", which was previously doomed to obscurity on their self-titled debut cd. This time it's got a lot more energy, and serves as a way to introduce everybody to the band.

If you're a Third Day fan, you'll enjoy this one. Mac's vocals are on the money. The band is effortlessly tight. These guys are such pros by now, they make it look easy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could of had so much more..., November 24, 2004
This review is from: Live Wire (CD & DVD Package) (Audio CD)
I'm glad Third Day has put out a live release to compliment their 2004 tour. I just wish they put more content on the DVD and CD.
First off, the DVD is just over an hour long. There are a
few nice supplements, but where's a commentary? Where's some
bonus songs?
The CD is even shorter, only 9 live songs plus "Thank You All."

Bottom line: This set should have more stuff on it!!!
