4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, January 9, 2007

Very comprehensive guide to relocating to Scotland. It is disappointing that it is so hard to get into the U.K. to work and experience a different kind of life - unless you are highly educated, sponsored by a company that wants to hire you, or rich. It is still a good read, and the writing is very easy to follow.

For me, this book did not offer much information. It seems to be outdated and too broad of coverage.

After five trips to Scotland and a desire to move there, I purchased this book along with Nicola's book, Buying A House In Scotland. Both books are very informative and interestingly written. Nicola Taylor moved to Scotland with her husband after visiting from England. One would think that it shouldn't be much different, but there are cultural and financial differences as spelled out in the book. This book helped me although I stopped short of moving permanently due to personal involvements and not enough money. If you have plans to live and work in Scotland, I would purchase this book first as well as visiting many times to see if you really like the country.
