3.0 out of 5 stars A NICE DEBUT
Rachael came out in 2000 a little while after the fantastic Christian artist-Stacie Orrico. Compared to pop divas, Stacie is more like Britney and Rachael is more like Christina as she does have a more powerful voice although she does sing more bubblegum or light music. The highlights here are the ballads such as BLESSED and MY FATHER'S HEART which truly shows Rachael's...

5.0 out of 5 stars A voice so truly God-given, you cant help but experience Him, August 1, 2000
This review is from: Live for You (Audio CD)
Every once in a while, an artist conveys something soperfectlyand intensely that it is impossible to resist understanding the Reason, the Heart of her inspiration. Rachael is such an artist. You simply cannot listen to her music and not experience God, Who is in her words "the only reason for all these changes in my life...." Rachael says to her Lord Jesus, "my gift comes from You alone, and I...surrender [to] be freely used by You." Listen and you'll understand why her producer Brent Bourgeois calls her voice "a most priceless gift," and Amazon.com says "the novelty of a child prodigy is made new again."

"Live for You" is the kind of album that'll (after hearing a few times yourself) make you run out and share it with everyone you know. God will use it to convict you...to move you...to inspire you -- and I can give no higher praise than that.

Rachael's voice is so obviously a God-given gift, that she has mastered every facet of vocal technique, allowing her to covey the message in song with an undeniable talent and diverse musical variety...from the pop sounds of the title track and "Shaken" to the gospel-tinged "I am Blessed" to the tribal sounds of "Day of Freedom" and "Free" to the techno-flavored "God Loves You" and "You Lift Me Up," the Far Eastern sound of "Hide Me," the country sounding "Secret Place" and of course the true masterpiece ballads "Always Be My Home" and "My Father's Heart" (my personal favorites).

The words behind the voice are penned by Christian music's most gifted writers...from Cindy Morgan to Chris Eaton, Brent Bourgeois, and Chris Rodriguez, fellow singers Jill Phillips and Ginny Owens, David Mullen and Anointed's Da'dra Crawford. The music supporting Rachael's voice is the London Session Orchestra, recorded at none other than Abbey Road Studios.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't stop playing this CD!, September 5, 2000
This review is from: Live for You (Audio CD)
Wow. What an awesome album. There is not one single song on here that I would skip! I heard "Live For You" on the radio and was immediately taken. Of course, I was disappointed to have to wait for the album to come out, but it was SO worth the wait. Rachael has a fantastic voice and she really uses it to give glory to God. This is pop music, but it has a universal appeal - younger people will like it, and so will some older people. It's not childish, like some young secular pop singers can be. Anyway, my favorite songs are "You Lift Me Up," "Shaken," "Free," and "Day of Freedom." But like I said, *every* song is awesome!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Voice of a Young Angel, August 12, 2000
This review is from: Live for You (Audio CD)
The first time I heard the song "Live For You" by Rachael Lampa, I was amazed. I knew right then that I just had to have this CD. Rachael Lampa sounds a lot like Christina Aguilera except with a Gospel feel. This is my first Christian CD and it won't be my last. I like most of the songs, especially "Blessed" and "Shaken"... I also like the fact that they have the lyrics to the songs. If you enjoy Gospel and/or Christian music with a Pop flare, then you'll love Rachael Lampa's "Live For You" album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Voice of the Century, November 25, 2000

I heard Rachael's first two hits on the radio, "Live For You" and "God Loves You," and when I first heard her sing, I thought it was Jaci Velasquez! But one morning on the same radio station, the DJ was talking about how Rachael was 14 years old (15, now) and already being compared to Whitney Houston, Jaci Velasquez, etc. When I looked for Rachael's CD at the store a month after it came out, it was nowhere to be seen. I asked a store worker if it was available, and she told me that there were still waiting lists a month after the date of availability. That was when I finally realized that Rachael wasn't just another Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera. Not only does Rachael have an awesome range in her voice, but she has such a versatile style of singing. From the Latin-tinged "Live For You," to the bouncy pop rock "God Loves You," to the spine-tingling "Always Be My Home," and to a whispering quiet ballad like "My Father's Heart," Rachael takes you on a musical journey like you've never been before. All I can say is, wow. God has created such pure talent for Rachael.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD I have ever heard!!!, September 21, 2000

I have only just brought Rachael Lampa's CD I was in my local Christian music store and thought that it looked interesting so I brought it and was I ever glad I did. It is without doubt the best CD that I have heard and the fact that it is a christian CD makes it even better. When I first put it in my CD player I was amazed by Rachael's voice for someone so young to have such a truly magnificent voice is incredible and even more so is that she has decided to make a christian CD instead of just going after fame for herself like so many stars do these days. I really hope that people who hear her will come to know the Lord through hearing her music. I love all the songs on the album but my favourites are "Live for you" "Always be my home" "You lift me up" and "My Fathers heart" I cannot wait for her next album lets hope it is soon in coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars An artist never inspired me so much!, August 11, 2000

Racheal Lampa's cd- I LIVE FOR YOU is the best yet. I was very impressed the first time I heard her on the radio. When I tried to find her website, I was very surprised that such a young artist, at 15, can have such a beautiful voice. But most of all what touched me the most were the word of the songs. My favorite song is "I Live For You" because it made me realize how much love Jesus showed us and that we should be willing to live for him. I really think this album deserves 5 stars because of the content and especially the lyrics to the songs, that I'm sure, have touched others as well who have listened to this album. Racheal's upbeat and inspiring music and lyrics will surely touch your heart. May God bless you all...

5.0 out of 5 stars little girl.....big voice, August 1, 2000
This review is from: Live for You (Audio CD)
I know what you are thinking...another teen singer? Isn't it enough we have Christina, Brittany, Mandy....and countless others? Well, yes she is a teen, only 15 to be exact, but she certainly doesn't fall into the current teen pop category. Rachael has an incredible voice for such a young age. Yes so do Brittany and Christina...would you stop throwing them in my face! Well what sets her apart from the other teen singers is her subject matter. Do you remember how Amy Grant started out? (and no Heart In Motion was not her first album) She started out as a Christian singer. Yes, Religion is the subject matter of Amy's early work and so it is with Rachael's debut. I can't honestly say how this album will be recieved by the teens of today, I am hoping for the best. Each song is full of energy and passion in a very different way than the current crop of songs out there. Her heart-felt faith can be felt with each note she sings. The songs themselves run the gamut from traditional ballads to energized pop. If she is this good at 15 then I can't wait to see where she is in 10 years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Praise the Lord!, July 13, 2003
This review is from: Live for You (Audio CD)
This girl's got it goin' on. I was introduced to this girl for the first time on the ABC day time TV show "The View" a few years ago. She performed the song "Live For You" live. I was sprung! I could not believe what I was hearing out of a 14-15 year old. I knew then and there she was filled with the holy spirit. You can hear it on this record. Live For You is a solid collection of soul and R&B flavored gospel songs. That she is able to combine lyrics of praise and worship with popular dance music without sacrificing her reverance for the Lord is amazing when you consider she's but a teen. In all due respect to another reviewer on this page she doesn't have the vocal range of Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. But then she's just a teen. Most adult singers don't have Carey's or Dion's range! However if her pipes continue to develop she will have the range of Carey and Dion by the time she's old enough to go out for drinks and hors d' oeuvres. I have two words for you if that happens ~ watch out!

After having only heard her song "Live For You" and loving it, I wasn't sure about the rest of her CD. But I bought it on faith and I'm glad I did. This is the most fun, the most powerful, and the most inspirational Christian music CD I've ever bought. There's something on this CD for everyone because each song has a different style and feel to it. "Day of Freedom" has beautiful Israeli/Middle Eastern harmonies to it; very powerful and very moving. "Always be my Home" touches my heart and made me cry. "God Loves You" is a very cute piece and reminded me of some of the younger '80's pop singers. "Blessed" has a gospel/blues sound to it. "You lift me up" is loads of fun and a definite praiseworthy song. "Shaken" is by far the most exciting dance-like piece on the album! And the last four, especially "My Father's Heart," represent true love songs to the Lord. This album is a must-have for every one who likes contemporary Christian Music!

Rachael has a beautiful, controlled and strong voice that belies her age. Her voice is not whiny and weak like some other popular singers out there. I especially enjoy "Blessed", "Shaken", and "Hide Me". This CD is especially great because Rachael masters so many different styles with ease while making it fun. Of course, the message is undeniably all about Jesus Christ; these songs do not water the message down. You don't have to wonder who Rachael represents when you listen to her music. I listen to the entire CD over and over again without tiring of the songs. This is one of the best Christian albums ever.
