5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Career Resource
I am the director of a career center at a Christian college and have looked at more books than I can remember, trying to find one that incorporated all the elements I was looking for: solid Biblical underpinning, excellent and respected assessments, material that reflected a sophisticated understanding of the highly complex nature of career decision making, and something...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too "Christian" focused.
I used this book with our Quaker Meeting. Our group is not fundamentalist at all, and found that the fundamentalist/evangelical focus was much too strong for us. The non-religious assessments are good, and revealing, but the authors definitely expect readers/participants to have a "God-focused" perspective. Some of us do, and some of us don't, so this book is really...

This review is from: Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life (Paperback)
I am the director of a career center at a Christian college and have looked at more books than I can remember, trying to find one that incorporated all the elements I was looking for: solid Biblical underpinning, excellent and respected assessments, material that reflected a sophisticated understanding of the highly complex nature of career decision making, and something that was usable with a group. Well, this is it. I couldn't be more pleased and my hat is off to the Brennfleck's for their remarkable accomplishment. I have chosen this book for my career class and would recommend it to anyone seeking clarity about vocation and calling for the Christian in a confusing and challenging time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource for individuals, schools, and churches., February 26, 2005
This review is from: Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life (Paperback)
The practical information, assessments, and helps in "Live Your Calling" offer encouragement and hope as people seek the best way to use their personal strengths and gifts in their life work. This unique book can be used by individuals or for small group study (a small group study guide is included), as my church is doing. It is appropriate for young people making career decisions for the first time and for adults who want to review their mission in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live Your Calling - A must read!!, January 19, 2005
This review is from: Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life (Paperback)
Live your calling is a great book for any stage of life. Younger people can be stretched in their thinking of how they really want to use the gifts that God has given them. For the mid-life generation it is a great way to discern God's purpose for the second half of your life.

You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Guide to Finding Your Niche, December 2, 2004

This review is from: Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life (Paperback)
I have used the Live Your Calling material as a guide to integrating my career and sense of purpose in life. It has been an awesome tool to provide practical empirically-based answers to the tough decisions of what vocational positions should I pursue and under what conditions that are best for me.

Kevin & Kay-Marie are no nonsense writers that dig beneath the surface and force you to come to grips with the bigger picture of our work. They help you see that your calling is comprised of your values, temperament, motivational patterns, personal history, family, purpose and more.

I think you will enjoy Live Your Calling as I have and it will provide a practical guide to finding your mission in life.

This is a steller book that helped me figure out whether or not I am doing the right thing with my life and my career. The authors helped me identify the things that are most important to me, and to evaluate my job and home life to make sure I honor my mission in life. I found it a very practical, yet also thought-provoking book.

The best resource I've seen to help match the inner life with the outer life. Well done!

Very well organized and written. Takes a while to complete all of the assessments and assignments but the insight gained from them makes it well worth the work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Introduction and Analysis, March 4, 2011

This review is from: Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life (Paperback)
This book has been great for introducing God's secondary calling on people's lives. However, I had to use it for a seminary class in which the book does not distinguish between vocational ministry and lay ministry. The book automatically assumes that all readers of the book are volunteer persons in a church. Therefore, it is hard to follow through as a seminary student.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice book!!, December 23, 2010

This review is from: Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life (Paperback)
I have used the Live Your Calling material as a guide in my life. The answers are empirical and really helped me zero in on the vocational positions to pursue. The authors are pretty cool writers. They help you see that your calling is comprised of your values, temperament, motivational patterns, personal history, family, purpose and more. In many ways, the book is a superb complement to another book that I just read titled "The Career Journey" by author Ram Iyer. While "Live Your Calling" is focused a lot on finding the right job, "The Career Journey" focuses less on the finding of the job and more on what to do once you find it. Buy both together for a perfect set of books !!!

Wow! What a great book! I found it original, insightful, aligned with scripture, and eminently practical regardless of ones stage in life. If you're doing a self assessment re strengths/weaknesses, where you stand and your future, before acting, Live Your Calling is a prerequisite lesson. I haven't found better advice!
