A great "Live" recording with vitality and excitement.,

I'VE GOT HUNDREDS OF CONTEMPORARY BIG BAND JAZZ RECORDINGS AND I CONSIDER THIS TO BE AMONG THE TOP 20 BEST I OWN. ERNESTINE ANDERSON IS ONE OF THE BEST JAZZ SINGERS ON THE SCENE AND BEING BACKED UP BY PIERCE/CAPP JUGGERNAUT THE RESULT IS SUPER SWINGIN'. IF YOU LIKE THE EXCITEMENT OF A LIVE DATE AND A DRIVING BIG BAND BEHIND A HIP VOCALIST-GET THIS! THE FIRST 5 CUTS ARE THE BAND ALONE.

I'm an old big band trumpet player and nothing swings better than this. If you're a trumpet player, you should scour the planet to get a copy of this, either on CD or vinyl, just for the opening fanfare of track #2, Queer Street. It is the most hip fanfare ever, ever played. You won't be disappointed.
This is a difficult recording to find, but if you can't get a CD here at Amazon, then hit EBay for a vinyl copy. It's well worth it. A must-have for any serious big band musician! |
