And Even More Classic Live West Coast Jazz,
By Michael B. Richman (Portland, Maine USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Live at the Black Hawk 4 (Audio CD)
If Volume 3 of Shelly Manne's "At The Blackhawk" albums is the most relaxed and laidback of the recordings, then Volume 4 is the most fiery and groovin'. The CD opens with the hard-swingin' "Cabu" followed by the simmering, sentimental "Just Squeeze Me," which contains one of Victor Feldman's greatest piano solos. Don't let the title of "Nightingale" fool you, this song is "A Night In Tunisia" like thriller. Of course the album concludes with the band's theme (as it does on Volumes 1 & 2), and a first rate alternate version of "Cabu." As with the other volumes, the band, sound, and ambiance all come together to paint a classic picture of great West Coast jazz.

I know there are 5 pieces from Shelly man on cd ,but only 4 lp records from him and I will always search to complete the collection, so that's what we doing collecting music and when it's possible I prefere good music, with a heart, rhythm and beat and that what I heard by Shelly Mann and his friends ,it's always funny how these musicians can play a song so beautiful and jazzy.
The cd was without cratches and the imformation on the booklet was alright. Thanks to the seller and till the next time. Greetings from the music collector from Belgium |
