Biography

Formed during 2002 by three musicians from Western Australia with similar visions and musical backgrounds, Pendulum’s mission has always been to pull together their production resources, ideas and influences from various styles of music, to create a new sound that they felt was missing from dance music. The individual members behind Pendulum have been active in Perth’s live music scene for several… Read more in Amazon's Pendulum Store

Editorial Reviews

Limited two disc (CD + PAL/Region 0 DVD) pressing of this live album from the Drum 'N' Bass mavericks including a bonus DVD recorded at Brixton Academy on December 4th and 5th 2008, which highlights a full live set directed by Paul Caslin. Live At Brixton Academy features scintillating performances of Pendulum's biggest hits and killer tracks to date including 'Showdown', 'Propane Nightmares', 'Granite', 'Slam' and 'Another Planet'. The DVD also features Pendulum's explosive interpretation of The Prodigy's 1994 cult hit 'Voodoo People' and their incendiary take on the Metallica classic 'Master of Puppets'

5.0 out of 5 stars Hold Your Colour, July 15, 2009

Kalgari (Chester, PA, USA) - See all my reviews
The quintessential drum and bass maestros Pendulum bring me a little piece of home, performing in London's Brixton Academy. This music represents a continued progression of the drum and bass genre, providing an intense live experience that feels long evolved from the drum and bass events I so enjoyed before I left for America. Aside from hearing Roni Size in Bristol with Reprazent, it is uncommon for me to find a drum and bass collective who are producing anything so thoroughly "live".

For those not indoctrinated into the drum and bass scene, this album may well feel relentless and impenetrable. This kind of music usually can be categorized primitively into everything liquid (light), and what you have here: hardstep/dark/guitars by the boatload, very much aggressive, full on drum and bass.

A quick preview of any Pendulum tracks will give you a clear idea if this album is for you. For anyone who knows Pendulum, this really is them at their cute little Australian bests. It's a good mix of the tracks they've been putting out for past few years, with all the big tune crowd pleasers (Slam/their mix of Voodoo People/Granite/etc.).

This album thoroughly gets five out of five from me.
