Blood, Sweet and a lot of Testosterone!,
By
This review is from: Agnostic Front: Live at CBGB (DVD)
I'm so happy, this is Exactly what I was expecting for. This old cats are trully something... they did it once in the 80's, and they do it again in the 21st century. You have to see this show guys, the crowd's adrenalin is just too wild to review or to capture it with simple words... probably a street poet could do a better job, cuz I've never seen a crowd crazier than this one. There's so many people on stage doing stage dives, moshing and "sing-a-long", that sometimes is really hard to see the band playing. The crowd is just nuts, even wilder than the D.R.I: Live at the Ritz DVD which is a chaos. Well, this is a MAYHEM,just too much adrenaline and testosterone flying around that room. Remember this is CBGB'S so they are actually playing in a room... a room fill with madmen...ummm I don't remember seeing any girls around.
The band, I dare to say, it's flawless. Roger Miret is as energetic as ever and he destroyed his throat on this one. The drummer is just ripping the skins off his drum kit. The bass player is moshing and singing along with the dancing maniacs. The lead guitarrist... well, the lead guitarrist is no where to be found in this footage, I mean, he's onstage but we hardly see him... I don't know if it's because of the editing, the camera possition or just because they hate the guy, but we hardly see him playing. Mr. Vinnie Stigma is, well, as still as a concrete wall!, I mean the guy doesn't even move, but I think it's because there's so many people moshing and dancing around him that's too hard for the to concentrate but It's great to have him on stage playing those old riffs anyways. The editing is top notch, the image quality is a beautiful High Def 4:3 ratio and the audio is BRUTAL!!!. All I have to say is that I'm not dissapointed at all... but very pleased to have this live show in my dvd shelf cuz this is Just what I expected from this show. The set list contains all the oldschool hardcore material I wanted to hear and not that post One Voice happy punky crappy stupid stuff from those albums they released in the late 90's. This is Agnostic Front playing their best material from United Blood, Victim in Pain, Cause for Alarm, ... Liberty and Justice for?, One voice. They also play couple of new ones and just a few songs from that horrible 90's era... but that didn't bothered me a all... because the crowd and the show it's so crazy that those crappy song sound terrific! So if you like their old crossover true hardcore classic stuff, THIS IS YOUR SHOW, alive in the place where it all stared, The CBGB's.

This is a combo set one DVD and one CD. The DVD sound and video are incredible and fun to watch. The CD is the same as the DVD. The CD good but its live crowd is yelling in the mic, I would rather have the studio version for the CD. The DVD is sick.

great live cd decent selection of song but i would have skipped most of the last 3 epitaph cds material all together.solid sound but the weak point is still roger's voice but classic agnostic front.they even got matt henderson to play a song( one of my favorite members.)the dvds is great to nothing spectacular or different but done well.the classics have a bit of new life to them and powerful proformance. great buy cd & dvd for one price a couple of different songs exclussive for cd not on dvd.

Any NYHC fan, go buy this now. Immedietly get the f..k off your computer and go buy. I just bought this dvd the other day and watched it atleast 3 times already and still can't get over the crazyness and insanity of this soon to be memorabilia classic of Agnostic Front live at the legendary CBGB (the home of NYCHC). The energy and adrenaline of the crowd plus the atmosphere is just plain brutal. Plenty of bodies flying everywhere and jumping off the stage. It's truly one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen live or on a dvd. You got the godfather of NYCHC guitar Vinnie Stigma, just looking amazing. He's like a statue just going crazy with his guitar waiting to make some kind of humerous joke when the song stops behind Roger. He's so awesome in this video that I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Stigma is hardcore genious. The Gallo brothers are very talented and fit in great with Vinnie and Roger. The drummer is mad sick with the double bass juss going ballistic. Roger is another pure hardcore genious and is also hard to keep your eyes off of. The bands energy is sky high along with the crowd, which is really a pleasant surprise. At first u think there will be fights and all hell will break loose until after you realize that this show along with any NYCHC show is about UNITY, which this dvd is all about. Hardcore people having a fun night moshing and stage diving, but most of all singing out the anthems togethor. THIS IS NYCHC AT IT'S FINEST AND MOST PUREST HOUR..... and the most awesome thing is that this was filmed only like a year and a half ago. This truly tells everyone that NYHC is here to stay and will never be taken off the map, especially if Roger and company keep delivering.. You have all types of hardcore street people black, white, japanese, even german, all togethor equaling UNITY. This dvd was deffinately worth the $[...] and if it was $[...] it would still be worth it. The cd is also sweet that comes with this dvd. It's the whole tracklist of the dvd concert including 2 extra tracks. Was listening to it all day at work. Like I said, go buy this soon to be classic performance of the godfathers of NYCHC that started it all.

The best way to describe the live footage on the dvd would be Its like a fox in a chook pen, It goes crazy and it goes for the throat. I was a little disapointed it didnt have many songs from the epitaph records seeings they are the only albums of AF I own and I think that is there best stuff. I would have liked to have seen, Its my life, loved and Hated, Sit and Watch, Urban Decedance and Uncle sam and maybe My War but anyway...I aint complaining, It has introduced me to some Agnostic front I have never heard.
