Couldn't get any better,
This review is from: Live at the Fillmore (Audio CD)
I just wanted to say this is by far the best live album I own. The sound quality is amazing and the choice of songs is perfect. The acoustic tracks in the end are the perfect way to close the album (besides being exceptionally well done too!!) I highly recommend this album!!

Great Live Album,
By Dan (The Black House) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live at the Fillmore (Audio CD)
This CD is the best live CD I have ever heard. Quality recording and great musicians and mostly old songs..what more is needed? Most of the songs on this album are from their first two releases, and then some from "Practice..." thru "Low." This also contains two instrumentals..."A Dirge" which is a great melodic guitar song, and "Urotsukidoji" which is a powerful song and Greg Christian proves he is one of the best bassists in metal. The last 3 songs on this CD are acoustic re-makes, but the originals are still much better. James Murphy does a good job at taking up Skolnick's guitar parts. This is a good compilation if you are looking for a starter album for Testament and a must have for fans.

Testament Rules!!,

This review is from: Live at the Fillmore (Audio CD)
This is one of the greatest CD's from one of the greatest metal bands ever. Testament is a highly underrated group that is very talented and very heavy. This album is one of their best because it is all there greatest songs played live and three awesome acoustic songs at the end. It proves Testament's talent and power and is one of the most explosive albums of all time!

THE live album,

I have been a big thrash fan for a long time, Souls of Black was my intro to testament. I felt the ritual was a huge let down but my eyes were opened from low and their ability to thrash and bring forth a new energy. That energy was reborn and brought to all the tracks on this CD. Live At The Filmore has a life of its own, it is the first time I really enjoyed some of the old school great classics of testament that always felt under produced. this cd brings forth life and energy to some great works that needed just that added production. I have honestly never been a fan of live albums, but this was amazing and the unplugged stuff at the end just topped it. if your a testament fan this is a must.

This CD is awesome, I've been a Testament fan for a long time, and it seems like they keep getting heavier and heavier. Chuck Billy does a good job of making old songs even heavier than ever. Buy this CD if you like metal.

Testament should be one of the "big 4" of thrash metal since Metallica wimped out. this disc is awesome. every song, whether I have heard it or not, is a standout.

Smokin' Album,

This review is from: Live at the Fillmore (Audio CD)
This album was worth every penny. Having been a long time Testament fan and having seen them live, I was thoroughly impressed. James Murphy is far better guitarist than Alex Skolnick ever was. John Dette plays drums tighter and with more skill than Louie Clemente. This is one tight band that was rare to find consistantly with many of Testament's contemporaries. Check out A Dirge and the transition into Eerie Inhabitants. This band was on par with Metallica and Sepultura for musicianship and power.Other great albums by this band include The New Order, Low, and The Gathering. Check out Trail of Tears to see the skill of James Murphy.

this cd is/was vital an excellent proformance at a crossroads in their career with james murphy replacing alex scholnick on guitar with a unset/prement drummer at this time i would have loved to see paul bostoph record this instead of the live ep but they are in rare form for this fueled live cd ranging from legacy to low most of the classics covered.a true must have for testament fans to bad they will leave this form and not record much good matterial till 99 the gathering.

These guys have loads of talent; their songwriting prowess hasn't been lost over the years (and through the personnel changes). Whoever wrote the first post and said that James Murphy is a better guitarist than Alex Skolnick ever was needs to get his head examined. Granted, Murphy does a good job carrying the torch, there just isnt' as much electricity in the music. I hate to say it, but Testament didn't get better until their music developed in a manner that allowed for songs be substantial without the need for a solo. And they've made it to that point (over the course of the past 2-3 years).
