4.0 out of 5 stars Great Live Recording That Packs A Shem
It amazes me that someone would write a cd review from a concert
that they went to without having heard the cd. This is NOT the
same band that they heard in Toronto. It's true that David Pack is
no longer with the band, but this cd has the awesome vocals of Shem, who was not with them in Toronto. Shem makes all the difference in the world. This is a...

1.0 out of 5 stars What happened to David Pack
Buyer beware. David Pack is NOWEHERE to be found on this CD. In my personal opinion, David Pack WAS Ambrosia. While Joe Puerta's vocals sound fine, it might as well be Tony Bennett singing "Holdin' on". That song, "Biggest part", "You're the only woman", cry out for his distinctive voice. When did he divorce himself from the group? It's like...

no longer with the band, but this cd has the awesome vocals of Shem, who was not with them in Toronto. Shem makes all the difference in the world. This is a great opportunity to hear some
of their songs Live. There is an amazing version of Time Waits For No One on this cd. All in all this cd is surprising in how good it
is considering that David is not on it. This is a must for Ambrosia fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ambrosia's latest and greatest!, May 30, 2002
By
Sarah Waters (Orange County, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live at the Galaxy (Audio CD)
As one of the fortunate audience members of the concert now chronicled by the "Live at the Galaxy Theatre" release, the recording attests to the talent and ability of both the band and the producers, who proved more than capable of capturing the precision and energy of Ambrosias live performance. Classic favorites including "Youre the Only Women" and "How Much I Feel" couple a sense of nostalgia with an appreciation for the members ever-increasing prowess; while the inclusion of new and unreleased tracks allows the album to defy the limitations associated with common "best of" compilations. Though Ambrosia may forever be synonymous with 70s and 80s rock celebrity, this release will likely usher in the latest resurgence of a band whose popularity and prestige have yet to wane. With the unique composition of tracks like "Nice, Nice" alongside the infectious melody of "Livin On My Own," and the sweet sincerity of "In My Life,"this record will appeal to diverse musical audiences - becoming the capstone of an Ambrosia enthusiasts collection or the perfect introduction for the newest Ambrosia fan. Ambrosias "Live at the Galaxy Theatre" comes with a recommendation as enthusiastic as the response of the crowd youll hear on the CD!

This first live CD by Ambrosia is wonderfully recorded. To hear
songs like Drink Of Water and Time Waits For No One live is a
dream come true. This is Ambrosia captured as they now sound in
2002 and it is amazing. It is a must have CD for all Ambrosia
fans even though David Pack is no longer with the band.

Some of us have been waiting 25 years for Ambrosia to capture a live performance...and it's finally here! Those of us who own it agree it's better than we expected, with a clean, tight sound, great energy, and the vocals are right on. An absolute must-own for fans of Ambrosia, or anyone who likes sophisticated rock. All thumbs are up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ambrosia LIVE, May 29, 2002

This new live album reassures myself that this band will be around for many more years. The quality is amazing and the songs are staples in rock history. I attended the CD release party at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, and I was mezmerized that these blokes still put on a great show and sing better than ever before. So...if you're an Ambrosia fan or a fan of good rock music...this album is a must have!!!
Those A&R folks at Coach House Records really know what they are doing! Bravo!

When did he divorce himself from the group? It's like the Beatles without John Lennon. If accuracy is not important, you'll love the CD. If you're looking for the sound of classic Ambrosia, you'd better stick with the Anthology album, or one of their others. My 2 cents.
