Yellowhammer is a traditional Southern Plains style singing group from north central Oklahoma, and consists of members of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma and the Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma. Originally formed in 1990, the group began to travel outside Oklahoma in 1992, and quickly established a nationwide reputation. In 1995, Yellowhammer was asked to be the Southern Host Drum at the 24th Annual Seminole Tribal Powwow in Hollywood, Florida. We were fortunate in being able to record live during the four days and nights of the powwow. We are very pleased to present this first album of original compositions and traditional Ponca and Otoe songs sung by Yellowhammer-- Live at Hollywood, Florida! We hope you enjoy it.
