Live at Irving Plaza,

Shooter and the .357's, his touring band, put on a rowdy, rocking set, mostly from Shooter's second album, Electric Rodeo. I have seen Shooter a couple of times live and his performances are electric and full of energy. This set is no different. The highlights include Manifesto No. 2, Steady at the Wheel and Daddy's Farm. This album shows Jennings carrying the torch of southern rock and is much closer to this brand of music than the country music played on radio today.

Pretty simple: if you're a fan of Shooter Jennings and outlaw country, this is a solid live recording.

Musicianship lacking,

I bought this album and was disappointed. Weak musicianship and simpleton lyrics. I would think Shooter Jennings could have assembled a better band than this. Some of the most simple, poorly performed guitar solos I have heard. Maybe the studio albums are better, performed by studio musicians and Jennings gets dozens of takes on vocals. However, I'll pass on anything by Shooter and the 357s. 70's era Waylon and the Waylors blow this band so far away they land on another planet.

I had only heard a couple of Shooter Jennings songs before I saw them live and hadn't been all that impressed. Shooter & the 357s live were awesome, I definitely recommend catching a show. When I saw this album, I gave it a shot hoping it would do justice to the live show. If you like southern rock or the blur between country and rock and roll, you'll love this album.

Live country music at its best. Set in New York this package provides a great range and variation of country music. Great listening.

Saw Shooter In Scottsdale, Az recently---Shooter and the .357's were awesome! This CD is just a small tidbit of what the Concert was like. Get the Live CD you will not be disappointed but it will leave you wanting more!

This CD is an excellent snapshot of Shooter in concert. I recently saw him perform in Lancaster, PA, and his studio albums don't do justice to what Shooter and his band can do live. I also liked the extended segue into Black Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf" during the performance of "Busted in Baylor County." I only wish he had included one of the Waylon songs he covered in concert.Highly recommended.

This is a good example of a classic Shooter show. If you want to remeber a show you've been to, here it is. If trying to decide to go to a show this release will help you. This would also serve as a good example of Shooter's first two releases.
