I purchased this particular DVD because Katherine Jenkins is unheard of in New Zealand. The songs she performs in this concert are well known, but given a different perspective with her beautiful voice, which, when it achieves it's full maturity, will be outstanding! My wife and I have enjoyed this DVD so much that I have purchased "Living A Dream" which was recently released in New Zealand.
I would reccomend this DVD to anyone who enjoys quality singing of Katherine's calibre. I just wish we could purchase more of Katherine's work, she is outstanding!

Katherine has gotten some negative press, especially from the Opera community, but I really think that's a bit unfair. She's NOT an Opera singer...she is an entertainer who uses Opera as one of her vehicles. Big Difference. Of course she's GORGEOUS; that's a self-evident truth. But, the girl can sing, too...
This is a fantastic presentation of a concert Katherine did in her native Wales back in 2006. The home folks loved it, and her. That kind of chemistry makes for a great show. The bit with the camera was fun (she photographed the audience), and the sing-along on "God Save the Queen" and the Welsh National Anthem was a fine touch. Katherine even did well with the "Carmen" numbers (loved the dress), though I maintain that the full role is WAY beyond her league. Blonde Carmen? Well, Jeritza was a blonde Tosca... If you watch this expecting Elina Garanca, forget it. They're not the same. But, if you want a superbly produced video of a beautiful girl, backed by a fine orchestra, making just the right use of the instrument God gave her, you will love it. Enjoy!!

A fiesta of music and beauty,
By
This review is from: Live at Llangollen (DVD)
Not only is Katherine gorgeous but her mezzo soprano voice is beyond wonderful. She sings what she likes and does not color inside of the lines all the time, her renditions of beautiful Welsh songs (she always does at least one are heart warming) as if this is not enough her guest a relatively new star in opera was amazing, (how about the only performer ever to get a standing ovation at La Scala not even the great Pav) Back this up with a fine award winning choral and the really brilliant national symphony orchestra. Then just WOW!! Katherine's dress selections were something, brought some buzz from the packed house so to speak. If this not a fiesta there is none to be had.

Good quality of the video; but what impressed me more, was the beautiful voice of Katherine and the charisma She has. I finished the concert, wanting to see more and more.

Katherine Jenkins voice and style make her an amazing classical crossover performer. She's become a perfect replacement for Sarah Brightman, since Sarah has gone off the deep end. No, this concert isn't opera, but Katherine's mezzo-soprano voice is better than many mezzos that you will hear at The Met.
It's not recorded at the Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony. It's just a great crossover classic performance, done in a relaxed setting. The video quality is OK and the audio track is OK, not great, but OK. If you like classical crossover music, you will definitely enjoy this DVD!

This is another wonderful Katherine Jenkins offering, like fine wine and cheese for your next gathering. The beautiful girl with the amazing voice. The Welsh singer and sometime model bridges that gap between classical music and popular Andrew Lloyd Webber theatre type songs. She wants to keep classical music alive by bringing it to the masses so it is not forgotten and more importantly, it is understood. Whether she's singing in Italian, English or Spanish, she projects the feeling and passion of the song or aria, even if you don't know the meaning of the lyrics or libretto. She's a one of a kind, doing something very special. Much like a picnic along a Scotish countryside with a castle in the background, take her along to add some extra sparkle to your day.
