5.0 out of 5 stars The Best LIVE Sweet ever recorded!!, November 21, 2003
By
david shepardson (palm desert, ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live at Marquee (Audio CD)
For all of us who love SWEET with all our Rock n Roll heart & soul but never had the chance to see them LIVE in concert - your prayers have been answered. In fact stop reading this and go buy this NOW!! This is absolutely, hands down, end of story THE BEST Live album ever recorded! The production value of this single concert is so high it is off the charts. I cried for 10 minutes after the last LIVE song played! And I cried for this reason-because I love this band and this is as close as I will ever come to seeing them Live. SWEET literally humbled me to tears with their passion and god given rock n roll ability during this concert. The farther into this concert you get, you suddenly realize you are listening to absolute greatness. You will literally be whipped into such a pure, joyous emotional state that the afterglow will last for weeks. And it only gets better and better every time you listen to it. I recommend this: Get comfortable in your living room or wherever you listen to your music, make sure your stereo is warmed up & the volume set comfortably loud, have some beverages on ice, turn off all the lights except for the green & red lights of your stereo(The 1st time this is best played at night-like a real concert would be)and then hit PLAY!!! And then most importantly-Visualize Yourself There!! SEE SWEET UP ON STAGE! FEEL THE CROWD!! FEEL THE INTENSITY AND THE GREATNESS OF THE MOMENT!! I guarantee you that if you truly love SWEET you will have the absolute time of your life!!! And maybe you too will cry "TEARS OF JOY" when the last live song is played. "YOU READY STEVE? AH HA! ANDY? YEAH! MICK? OK! ALLRIGHT FELLAS LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Do not let anyone get in your way of listening to this concert all the way thru uninterupted. No cell phones, answering the door, TV on. Turn it all off! and submerge yourself in this moment. Also at the end of the concert there are 4 songs that are not live. LOOK AT THESE AS THE MUSIC THAT PLAYS AFTER THE CONCERT IS OVER,THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN TURNED ON, THE BANDS LEFT THE STAGE AND YOU ARE WALKING OUT OF THE ARENA. They are not meant to be listened to with the same intensity as the concert. In fact while these 4 songs are playing you should reflect back on the unbelievable emotional experience you have just been put thru. You will not even be listening to those 4 songs because you'll be crying and your head will be spinning. Those 4 songs are purely walking out music. Look at it as that and it will add to the experience. And DO NOT be disappointed if your favorite songs are not played. Concentrate on the songs that are played and the absolute greatness with which they are played and your relationship with SWEET will be so much richer. The fact that they may not have played your favorite song will only make you yearn for SWEET more. Listen to every note, the unbelievable guitar work of Andy, the amazing drum work of Mick. Its all here.
Have a GREAT TIME and feel free to email me and let me know about your incredible evening with SWEET!! ENJOY!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pop Rocks for Adults, July 20, 2010
By
Unzar Jones (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live at Marquee (Audio CD)
Although I'm not overly fond of live recordings, this is one I really do like. The shrill teen-pop sound of Sweet's early records has been thankfully traded up for a more hard core rock sound. The quality is good and the performance has energy. Consider it Sweet played by adults for adults.

2.0 out of 5 stars Yow, November 24, 2006
This review is from: Live at Marquee (Audio CD)
This is pretty horrible. I'm giving it 2 stars because there's some good guitar and drumming on it, but the lead vocals are frickin' awful. The screeching lead singer, whoever it is, makes Sweet sound like a bad generic 80s metal band. This is not good. I miss Brian Connolly more than ever after subjecting myself to this nonsense.
