a message from Rogers Stevens (Blind Melon guitarist),

This review is from: Live at the Palace (Dig) (Audio CD)
Dear friends of the Melon,
We are very disappointed with the new "Live at the Palace" release. I have not seen a hard copy of the disc yet, but I was aware several months ago that the track list was scrambled when they made an aborted attempt to put it on Itunes, but did not know that this was off on the disc as well. We've been around the bend with Capitol about this, and they pretty much did what they wanted to anyway. The band does not have a manager now, so we didn't have anyone to run interferece with the label, and were dealing with it ourselves. We hated the cover, nobody who worked on it was credited, and it was put together without any consideration for our wishes. Last year, we worked closely with Capitol to release the "best of" and "live at the metro" releases, but some new people took over and just didn't care for our input. If you go to itunes Australia or England, you'll see the cover that we picked, which fits the theme of the other releases. Brad and Christopher spent a week mixing this thing and got no credit. Lyle Eaves (our live sound engineer) facilitated the recording...and again no credit. We wanted to honor our crew members who stuck with us through some unbelievably difficult touring...again no credit. We stand by the quality of the show and recording, but cannot remain silent about what they did with it. It's a shame, too, because Capitol treated us very well to this point. As always, we appreciate your support...... Rogers Stevens Blind Melon guitarist

Track screwup?!,
By
This review is from: Live at the Palace (Dig) (Audio CD)
As review above stated, the track list is completely wrong. This is the worst mistake I've ever seen from a major label, bar none. Great show, tracks are wrong. This would get a 5 star review for the quality of the recording and production, but sheesh, the magnitude of the track errors is so overwhelming it cost it a star.
For anyone who's interested, here's the CORRECT order of the tracks as they appear on the CD: Galaxie Toes Across the Floor Tones of Home Soup Soak The Sin Change No Rain Wilt Vernie Walk Skinned Time

This is a phenomenal album with the CORRECT TRACK LISTING, unlike the other release by the same name. Too bad they don't make bands like they used to, and the only problem with this album is it's way too short. Amazing sound quality.

Non the less, thank you Rogers for the great music you had written. I own some EV and some of Brads great work as well.( Jalopy +) I applaud you for your great talent and wish you well. You and Chris were the best there will be. Thank you for splitting up the stereo guitars. I learn the left and than the right. Four LP's later,I'm still trying to pick it out. Take care and keep it going. No need to appologize. Stay away from cutting the meat man. You need your thumbs.

TRACKS ARE WRONG!,
This review is from: Live at the Palace (Dig) (Audio CD)
This is a good show, but that tracks are all listed in a totally wrong order, even here on Amazon. Listen to the samples. I don't know how a major label makes a mistake like this, I have never seen anything like it.
The fans deserve better than this, and so does Blind Melon.

4.5 Stars - Great set - Great Sound - Great Show,
This review is from: Live at the Palace (Audio CD)
The energy and sound quality on this disc are phenomenal. Shannon sounds passionate and the music is tight and crisp as can be. I wanted a longer set with some gems off the debut (I wonder, Holy Man). If like this AMAZING band in any capacity... buy this disc. It totally rocks!

TIME,

This review is from: Live at the Palace (Dig) (Audio CD)
I really liked this cd, but I felt like it wasnt done right. I agree with the artwork, Im a graphic designer and I didnt think or feel "blind melon" when looking at it(not to mention the mixed up track names). My biggest problem with it was the song "time", was that how it actually went, 4 minutes long? or was it edited? The entire cd was only 41 minutes long, I really thought it would be longer.
I always thought about a boxset of live recordings, Ive had so many mixed live blind melon cds that it could have easily been a boxset. Infact thats my request a boxset 3 or 4 discs. I'd like to know where my money went for this cd, hopefully to the band. Adamharbin@hotmail.com

Blind Melon at their best,

Never got a chance to see them live and this cd proves that to be a mistake. The quality is excellent and the songs just seem to come alive. So as Shannon Hoon says, "Try and keep it between the ditches ya'll".
