5.0 out of 5 stars Christy at his Best, August 13, 2003

Christy has several live albums but this one has to be his best. From open to close, this CD does a great job of capturing all the energy of a Christy concert. The recording quality is very good and doesn't allow crowd noise to impinge on the music. It's a good mix of traditional stuff and Christy originals, and with a whopping 14 tracks its bound to please! This CD is a must-have for Christy collectors and would be an excellent choice for a first CD from him.

if you ever had the priviledge of seeing Christy perform live, you will know that his albums don't come better than this. Christy doesn't need a band, he is one all by himself (although you might only see him play the bodhran and the guitar). LATP gives a perfect example of what Christy is all about: the ballads, the humour, the wit, the terror, the story-teller. Highlights: the intro to "Fairytale of New York" and revised versions of "Delirium Tremens" & "The Knock Song".

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Christy Moore CD, June 19, 2003

'Live at the Point' is Christy Moore at his best. A wonderful blend of traditional Irish songs magnificently performed by this accomplished artist. I usually don't like 'live performances' but this one is an exception. While listening to 'Live at the Point' you actually feel like you are in the audience and enjoying an exceptional performer doing what his does best. It is a uplifting experience and I can (and do)listen to it over and over again. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes traditional Irish music.

5.0 out of 5 stars We need more Cristy Moore albums like this one..., August 31, 1999

This album is a tour of Ireland...Dooneen to Knock to Macroom...County Clare, County Roscommen and Kennedy's Pub. I can picture him with a pint singing songs the common folk live and breath. His brogue reminds me of my father and his music follows me around. This man is not only an artist but a philosopher and poet as well. Buy this album....you'll thank me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christy At His Best!, January 31, 2002
By
This review is from: At the Point Live (Audio CD)
This is, hands down, my favorite of Christy Moore's albums. The audience helps to bring out the best of Christy and vice versa. There is a great mix of music on this album. There are traditional pieces like "Black is the Colour" and "Cliffs of Dooneen", Christy's own hilarious "Delirium Tremens", "Knock" and "Joxer Goes to Stuttgart", his own rendition of "Fairytale of New York" which breathes new life into the old Pogues' song and two of Christy's most famous hits "Nancy Spain" and "Ride On". Yet that is just half of the album! This is a 'must have' for any Christy fan. You'll enjoy the songs and stories with their Irish references and colloquialisms whether you are from Ireland, been exposed to the culture or are just getting acquainted.

CHRISTY MOORE'S "LIVE AT THE POINT" IS ONE OF THE BEST, IF NOT THE BEST, IRISH MUSIC CD THAT I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. THE CD IS FULL OF EXCELLENT SONGS, SOME QUITE POINGNANT AND OTHERS EXTREMELY FUNNY. THE ONE CONSTANT IS THE HIGH QUALITY OF THE MUSIC AND THE GREAT ENTERTAINER THAT IS CHRISTY MOORE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD FOR IRISH MUSIC FANS.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHRISTY AT HIS UTMOST BEST!, February 18, 2005

Christy Moore is such a fine musician and he really does shine live. If you don't get a chance to see him live, then this CD can illustrate how great he is live. If on the other hand you have seen him live, then you WILL want this CD. No doubt about that! His rapport with the audience is in itself a joy to behold. A splendid live CD. But then, it's hard to fault Christy Moore. Highly and unequivocally recommended to all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, June 8, 2011

This is one of Christy Moore's best CD performances. It was done before a live audience in Dublin and the excitement of the live performance shows throughout the CD. One of his best alltime performances.

By far the best live album by Christy... Live at the Vicar St. can't compaire to this album ... Christy has such a great selection of songs ont his cd that none other can compaire to the cd ... Christy starts the album wiht bang with Welcome to the Carbaret and ends with Nancy Spain ... everything in between is only the best of Christy ... if anyone is looking to see what Christy is all about then look no further and pick up Live at the Point then come back and tell what they think of the great man ... Christy by far is the best folk singer is the modern era ... no question ... Ride On ...

5.0 out of 5 stars The very best, December 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: At the Point Live (Audio CD)
If you have not heard Christy Moore live, you have not heard him at his best. You may have some of these songs on other CDs, but you do not have them performed as well as they are here. An audience seems to bring him to life. This is probably my favourite CD of all time, and, as an Englishman, I am not prone to exaggeration. If you buy one CD today, buy this one. I doubt you will be disappointed.
