"Stand up for the most popular entertainer in Jamaica!" was the introduction Barry G. expressed to the crowd right before King Yellow took the stage at approximately 6:20 am. From then on, Yellowman had the crowd in his hands as he toasted his way into reggae history as the best DJ from the island. This live album showcases his talent in a vibrant, colorful way. The sound is incredibly clear and crisp for a live album. It's not the entire session Yellowman sang live at the '82 Sunsplash, but most of it is captured here for our pleasure. "Yellowman steals the show" were the headlines in the Jamaican newspaper the next day. This is a must have album!

Anybody who knows me knows that I love Yellowman. He is my favorite artist of any genre. He is a personal hero to me. I own his entire collection of music and it never gets dull to me. With all of that said, this CD is my favorite of favorites. This is a live CD and makes you feel like you are really there watching Yellowman. His performance is outstanding! For a guy to come on stage and take complete control, non-stop... I simply don't know how he does it. I have seen Yellowman live numerous times and this CD captures perfectly what it's like to see him in person. Not to mention that the songs have a very positive feel to them, that Yellowman is a very positive soul working to make the world a better place, and that this CD is great for the summer! If you can't make it to Jamiaca to see some live reggae, this is your next best bet! Turn off all notions you have about reggae and put this in your CD player. Embrace Yellowman and his music, and thank him for enriching your soul.

I had the honor of seeing Yellowman live last year and it is one of if not the best reggae shows I have ever seen. Yellowman's amazing talent for performing live comes fully across in "Live at Sunsplash". It sets the perfect mood for chilling with friends and having a good smoke. Definetly Four big fat spliffs up! Thank You. One Love to all. JAH RASTAFARI!!!!!!!

This CD is exceptional and captures the live performance of Yellowman at his peak very well. All the tracks are well recorded, 'digitally remixed' and flow exactly as if one is 'really' in a live performance, though it is an old recording. The CD is rare in South Africa and I have added a gem to my collection. I will recommend it to anybody. I will appreciate if the DVD of the same performance is made available.

I heard it soon after release and thought.......yes.........this guy speaks the same language as me......excellent..........17 years later it is still my most played c.d [took a while to find it on c.d! ].....soon after his release of live at sunsplash i went to see him live in birmingham [u.k] what a night!......the man has charisma and the bass player was so out of it he went backwards through the drum kit.....excellent......no hassle............first class night...........hope he keeps it up p.s....i met someone i chatted with online who was at the sunsplash and she said it was amazing,time of her life etc. so envious of her!

this cd is the best of reggae music. its original music and intelligent music

A great way to know what is like to be at Reggae Sunsplash. You hear the crowd and a great Reggae performer. You feel the sun and the great vibes, it's almost an out of body experience. Close your eyes, feel the music, and let Yellowman take you to Jamaica and back.
