A "Musical Theatre Chick" Dares To Scat!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Live at the West Bank Cafe (Audio CD)
In a departure from her usual style, this cd is a wonderful compilation of jazz standards, new jazzy songs with a few surprises along the way. The highlights are "Taylor", "Mame/Minnie", "Once Upon A Dream" and a beautifully moving rendition of "Amazing Grace". At the risk of sounding cliche, you will and you will cry whether you are a jazz fan new or old!

Who knew she could do jazz? She has an amazing voice, perfectly suited for jazz, and as always, her choice of material is impeccable. The highlights are "Taylor", "Minnie/Mame", "Mr. Paginini" and a rearranged "Once Upon A Dream". A must buy for anyone who likes jazz!

Both Christiane and Linda Eder appeared in Jeckle and Hyde together, both great artists. It's warm, stylish and sophisticated - and she can sure scat with the best of 'em. She has a very sweet voice, which is charged with electricity. I also like the fact that it is "live". My favourite has got to be "Put the Blame on Mame/Minnie the Moocher" - its fun and it swings.Singing Weasel

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I already knew she could sing jazz. In 1990 I had the pleasure of seeing Ms. Noll's senior recital at Carnegie Mellon University, in which she performed a variety of jazz standards. I recall being astonished that a 21-year old could have mastered such a diverse body of work (along with her already prestigious reputation for musical theater) and this album brings back that memory. If you enjoy this style of music at all, or have enjoyed any of Christiane's other works, you will not be let down.
