4.0 out of 5 stars Excellently Written And Informed Despite Lack of Citations, February 5, 2006

(REAL NAME)
Lagging a bit behind Jo Ann Brewer's and George S. Morrison's texts, Feeney & Company's book thoroughly presents the field in its essentials and reference points, but fails to internally cite the groundmaking scholarly works that put forth the concepts. With ever increasing accountability in the field, teachers need much training in accumulating the internal integrity and knowledge through a historical derived logic. Knowning where commonplace early childhood concepts originate begins this training.

A good third text.

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay but politically correct liberal bias included, March 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had to buy this book for class and while I enjoy some of the discussion sections for each chapter, I think it lacks aspects which would make this better for students. Not to mention, it is politically correct, liberal in some of its comments which some conservatives won't like. I bought from the marketplace sellers so hopefully not giving money to the original author/companies. The book should include vocabulary separately, so you can isolate and memorize key concepts of the chapters. It also seemed to jump around in topic. When you are trying to understand new concepts, that is not a good idea. It is hard to correlate what they are saying, with what you need to learn.

1.0 out of 5 stars Who Am I in the Lives of Children, December 8, 2010
I am sure this book has wonderful information in it, but it is so hard to read you just don't bother with it. I have not met anyone in my class or other classes that were able to get through this textbook. There is wonderful information in it and the colored pages are a nice touch, but the bold font type is awful. Every time I look at this font style I see double. I even showed it to another teacher in the ECE field and she was surprised with the font as well..
