More About the Author

Jan Crossen's interest in the welfare of children began years ago. As a high school teacher and coach, Jan was a mentor to many of her students and players. She is grateful for her continued relationships with many of these former students.

A sponsor of children living in developing countries, Jan contributed to the education, health, and well-being of youngsters in China and Africa. Serving as a court appointed surrogate parent for two siblings in the Arizona foster care system, Jan was delighted when her young charges met their forever mom and moved into their adoptive home.

Jan has always dreamed of creating her family through adoption. Her vision became reality in 1999 when she adopted her son, Joshua. The three books in the 9 LIVES Trilogy were inspired by their lives together.

A country girl by heart, Jan and her family live on a small farm, on a rural island near Seattle, Washington.

3.0 out of 5 stars A very important book, March 28, 2009
By
This review is from: 9 Lives, Full Circle (Paperback)
In this third book in the series, we really begin to understand the implications of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, or FASD. Jan has written sensitively about the problems that the teenage Josh encounters in his stuggle with this disorder. We feel the pain and suffering of the family that must live with FASD. This series is a very important one for anyone who deals with youth in our troubled world, and should be on every school counselor's desk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Applause, Applause, March 10, 2009
This review is from: 9 Lives, Full Circle (Paperback)
This book had me wanting to turn the pages from the very first chapter. Yes, I have read the other two books in the three book series but I found that the author did a good job writing it so it could be read independently of the others. I was enthralled anticipating the life of Josh unfold in the pages.
One of the many positives of this book is that it is written in language that is simple enough for a wide variety of ages to enjoy but enticing enough that it holds the attention of an adult.
I never knew anything about FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) before reading this and it has opened a new world of discussion with friends and co-workers about this subject.
The only problem with the book...it ended too soon. After reading all three books by the author, I hope that she writes an update on how Josh is doing!
