Major Disappointment,
By Jessica (Ohio) - See all my reviews

... I was thrilled with the vocabulary levels, plot devices, and character depictions in the original series (I read #3, "The Bungalow Mystery"), and fairly impressed also with the "Nancy Drew Files". However, the "On Campus" series is a travesty. It is a sensationalized,... and dumbed-down version of a classic series. ...

finally a cure for the common Sweet Valley U stupidness,

This was truly a great series and I was sorry to learn that it would no longer be coming out monthly. Nancy had always been so fake, so good, and perfect in the originals. I liked them for the mystery, but realism seriously lacked. This college series is so realstic and I love it. I don't mind that Nancy is ignoring Ned. He has to realize that things change, as does Bess.Plus, this is one of the best college series' I ever read. Unlike the Sweet Valley University's, these are realistic. There characters are flawed, too emotional, can be pesty. They are just like every other person I know in real life. The writer doesn't try to justify their actions: they're human.

Uh-uh!!,

I purchased this book, thinking that it would be as good as the originals- and I was wrong. This (no offense, anybody, I just don't like it) trashes Nancy and Ned's relationship- I consider it downright stupid. For those of you who want Nancy and Ned to stay together, don't bother with this one.

What happened?,

I agree with Jessica Cook. Nancy Drew changed! Why did Carolyn Keene start to write this, what I think, horrible series? The originals were the best, then she did the Nancy Drew files and they were pretty good. But in this series, Nancy and every single other character has changed!!!(I'm writing this after I've read all of the ones published.) Burt and Dave are gone. You're not believe going to believe what happens between Nancy and Ned, and there really are no mysteries! It's become one of the things I hate most, a soap opera! I apologize if anyone is offended, but I think Carolyn Keene should have stopped after the Nancy Drew Files.

Great way to start the series,

I have re-read this book a number of times because I found it really enjoyable. The book introduces a number of new characters that become Nancy's, George's and Bess's friends - so there are a lot of plots going on at once. I think it is better than the original series because in the originals Nancy was never at school or Uni so I was wondering when she would ever get an education!! In the Uni books although there are some mysteries they are much smaller which I think is better because Nancy always managed to solve about a billion mysteries. These books concentrate more on the characters lives - and are therefore much more realistic. Would reccomend it to all Nancy Drew fans or other readers who generally like that genre.

Look out Wilder University-Here comes Nancy!!,

Bess, George, and Nancy have all been accepted to Wilder University. They are all excited and ready to go. However, things aren't as great as they seem. Nancy's relationship with Ned is on the rocks. Should they stay together? Nancy is also noting that another student on campus, Peter is being extra friendly to her! What to do, what to do? Nancy has some major decisions to make! Definately worth reading. I've read the rest in the series up to number 11. I can't wait to get my hands on number 12

Not good, but not bad,
By Olivia Joy (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Lives, New Loves (Nancy Drew on Campus #1) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you love Nancy Drew (especially the classics), you probably won't love this book. There is hardly any mystery for Nancy to solve, and it is more about her new life at college. Nancy seems to always live in a perfect world, but this "perfect" college world isn't so perfect...then again, it is. All of the girls and guys are described to be "oh so goodlooking". Nancy's relationship with Ned is butchered and she finds herself attracted to other guys within the blink of an eye. This is definitely a mature content book--it deals with sex, drugs, stealing, and lying. Nothing felt right about it. It wasn't AWFUL, but it wasn't a real Nancy Drew, either. Just a teen-fiction book about college life with some character named Nancy who solves a little theft mystery. Read the classics if you want a good mystery. Read this if you want chick-flick romance.

A little disappointed...,
By Nancy Drew "Larissa" (Nashua, NH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Lives, New Loves (Nancy Drew on Campus #1) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am an avid Nancy Drew reader and I was looking for some material for older kids to try. I bought this one and was a little disappointed with it. First of all, the plot was a little amature. I mean stealing? And second of all, the fact that Nancy just ditched Ned was a little mean! You can't just drop a couple after they were together for practicaly the whole series. That's just what I thought of it.

Nancy Drew is now starting her freshman year in college with her friends George and Bess. Here they have to face new people, new loves and new mysteries. A thief is loose in the dorm and it is up to Nancy to find him.Good book, I liked it a lot.

This book was good , but not what expected.,
By Pam9765997@aol.com (IA,USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Lives, New Loves (Nancy Drew on Campus #1) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was a good book but as I said not what I expected. This book is good because of its events and the dicripion of the dorm campus etc. etc. But this book had its down falls for one this did not seem like Nancy, because she did not start investigating any thing in till late in the book that's NOT Nancy. She normally starts by atleast the 3rd chapter. I think this was a good book if you want to read this book go ahead just be prepared to be disapointed in a way. The reason I say what I say is because I read the Mystery Stories , and the Nancy Drew Files, and it did not seem to have that same exitement the old ones have. I feel sorry for Bess because of what happend to Bess with Dave if you ask me he's a Jerk. Then I could not beleve what happend to Ned and Nancy I mean i think Ned needed to understand that Nancy put up with hime durning his frist year at Emerson and now he has to put up with Nancy and ajust to her new life at Wilder. I am going to continue to read Nancy Drew on Campus because although not my favorite I enjoyed this book.
