This review is from: The Lives of the Holy Prophets (Hardcover)
Here is a masterful work on the lives of each Prophet of the OT, along with their message organized into the different categories that each Prophetic book contains. The commentary is from the ancient Fathers of the Church along with some later Eastern Fathers who affirm the ancient teaching.
For example, you can turn to the section in the book of Isaiah on the Son of God and there will be all the passages and commentary broken down in an organized manner for you. This is a must for all Orthodox Christians and like the other reviewer stated for Protestants and Roman Catholics as well, to see what the Church had always and still believes.

This review is from: The Lives of the Holy Prophets (Hardcover)
The Lives of the Holy Prophets: Protestants, with special emphasis on the hyper-Calvinists and hyper-fundamentalists, tend to condemn any theology other than what was ascribed during the reformation. Most of them do not even know who Wycliffe, Hus, Hutter, Mennon, Tyndale, Coverdale, Cranmer, Geneva Bible authors or the why of Luther.
This book is about the Biblical Prophets with much thought and theology by the 1st to 5th century church patriarchs. The writing and rhetoric and syntax of The Lives of the Holy Prophets is wonderful. All of the scholarly books are as well written. I'm a Presbyterian, attending a Calvin Church. Another church which is the 'only' church with the 'only' sound doctrine and theology. As an Atheist for 48 years, I have seen and heard that 'we are the chosen elect' many many times. I do not believe most Protestants understand what role the Holy Prophets fulfilled during their lives. Much of our theology is based upon Augustin, thoughts by Polycarp, the Nicene Council, Athanasius, and probably hundreds of other scholars. The Catholic Scholars are also very Christ centered in the Old Testament commentaries, like Psalms too. The Catholic Church survived for 1500 years before any other markedly different religions evolved as a result of disagreement. That is equivalent to the Lutherans or Presbyterians surviving intact until 3000 AD. So, my roots are not just catholic church roots but Catholic Church roots. Not all Protestants admit to this. This book is one of many produced by an amazing group of Catholic Scholars created by the Holy Apostles Convent with others published by Monastery Books and SVS Press. Wonderful and fulfilling reading for any Christian or truth-seeking historian. I especially like this one. The Holy Prophets and the church patriarchs are of particular interest to me. I believe invaluable for all Christians in the 21st Century. I'm happy to be protestant; however, I also believe baby parts if not the whole baby was thrown out with the bath water 500 years ago.
