Fairies and Felines, November 6, 2005
This review is from: Nine Lives and Three Wishes (Paperback)
This is the first of Jenifer St. Clair's novels that I've read - but I plan on reading more! Misty, a cat discovers a strange bottle in the woods. When he manages to open it a young boy emerges and offers him three wishes. Is this a genie - or something else? Misty has nothing to wish for himself, so he makes a wish for his owners - with disasterous consquences. Misty is determined to set the matter straight at any cost - even his life.
The fairies in this story reminded me of those in Holly Black's Tithe, but suitable for a younger audience as well. In this fairyland, cats are not allowed because they disrupt magic. This book was so good, I hated to see it end. I usually like quick reads, but I actually wouldn't have minded this story being longer if I could have gotten to know some of the characters better.
