Mr. Long has done it again! After reading "The First Person," I knew that I had to hear from this author again. As expected, "Livin' Ain't Easy" was also a great read. I turned each page eagerly, wondering what would happen next. This well written novel is one that you definitely want to purchase.

Mr. Long has done it again! After reading "The First Person," I knew that I had to hear from this author again. As expected, "Livin' Ain't Easy" was also a great read. I turned each page eagerly, wondering what would happen next. This well written novel is one that you definitely want to purchase.

Livin' Ain't Easy by Peron Long is the ultimate Love tale. I had to rank this book in the category with some of my favorite romance movies (Love & Basketball, Love Jones, and Brown Sugar). Livin' Ain't Easy seemed to represent a real life fairy tale of love. Although the characters were fictional, they were more relatable than the average Disney or animated princess that finds her prince, vice versa. I was Delvin and Simone and through them, I felt what it was like to experience the Agape type love towards another and have it reciprocated.

Livin' Ain't Easy was a lively book and hard to put down. There are parts in the book that everyone could relate to. Some parts made me laughed out loud and other parts made me feel overwhelmed. A must read, you will not be disappointed.

Oh and Watch out, because Livin' Ain't Easy has a very shocking ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book!, November 12, 2010
This review is from: Livin Ain't Easy (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Devlin was sleeping with a married woman named Leslie for 5 years. He thought it was perfect. He had someone to have sex when he needed it. He had quit his teaching job and made and sold educational products. Leslie wanted to be with Devlin after he became wealthy from selling these products. He knew that she only wanted him now because of his money. He wanted something more than her.

Simone Jackson thought she was a lesbian, but not until she was in college. She caught her roommate with another female. She became curious. She later kissed a girl and was blown away by how it felt. She began to wonder after years of being with women, if a man could make her feel the same.

Devlin was supposed to be on Simone's talk show, but they met each other in person before that and they both felt sparks. Simone is there to comfort Devlin when his best friend dies. The women in each of their lives don't like what develops

Devlin was truly a gentleman. He wanted to treat Simone right and not move to fast. I'm glad he realized that his relationship with Leslie was not going anywhere and he needed to find a woman who doesn't want him for his money and will treat him right. Simone was a great woman and really was there for Devlin, unlike Leslie.

I really liked this book and want to read more books by this author!

Livin Ain't Easy (Urban Renaissance)Mr. Peron Long has captured the life of two single upper class African Americans(Devlin & Simone) whose issues transcend social economic status and race. On one hand the book can be categorized as a love story but on the other hand the characters deal with real trials and tribulations of life that proves Livin Ain't Easy. The characters are well developed leaving you feeling like you know them or someone like them personally and at times are able to identify with their struggles. For those who know me personally, know that I'm not much of a reader yet i had difficulty putting the book down once started. I was intrigued by the story line, the Christian undertone and captivated by its clever element of mystery. Just when I thought I knew who did what, when, where, and how, I was blown away to find out I wasn't on the same planet. This style of writing held my attention from the beginning of the book to the end and left me asking, "Excuse me, Mr. Peron Long, What else you write". If your looking for something that's an easy read, intriguing, captivating and an emotional roller coaster, I would most definitively recommend this book.

God Bless You Mr Peron Long

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Contemporary Fiction!, August 12, 2009
This review is from: Livin Ain't Easy (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Devlin Carter is a former school teacher whose line of educational tools has made him a very wealthy man at a young age. But his personal life isn't so smooth. His on and off again relationship with a married woman is leaving him unfulfilled. Devlin's love life takes an interesting turn when he meets Simone Jackson. Simone is a television talk show host whose show is destined to go national. Simone now wants to make some significant changes in her personal life when she breaks things off with her ex. When Simone and Devlin meet, they both feel like they've finally found true soul mates in each other. But both of their ex-lovers have other plans.

Livin' Ain't Easy is a good story about the complexity of relationships. Péron F. Long did a good job in creating Devlin and Simone's characters. You see how Devlin had to let go of his long term destructive relationship in order to open his heart to Simone. You will also see how Simone had to figure out what she really wanted in a relationship. This story has a good helping of surprises and even murder that keeps the story flowing at an even pace. There is a jaw-dropping twist to the novel that added just the right excitement that makes you wonder if there could be a sequel in the future. Livin' Ain't Easy is a wonderful contemporary fiction novel that will be a sure delight for readers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Vindictive Lover, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Livin Ain't Easy (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Former school teacher, Devin Carter is a thirty-two year old wealthy business man. Successful with a line of educational products he developed. Unfortunately the grandmother that raised him did not live long enough to see his success. His best friend is dying. The woman in his life, that he has an "on again off again" relationship with...is married. Devin feels more alone than he cares to admit. The money and success means nothing to him if he does not have anyone to share it with.

Talk show host Simone Jackson is a thirty-one years old and is at a point in her life where she is ready to be settled down. She wants more than anything to be married and have a family of her own. The problem that Is preventing her from having what she desires is, she has... a female lover. When it is brought to her attention that Devin is scheduled to come on her show, she is ecstatic after seeing a photo of him. After a chance encounter, the two instantly connect. Could it be love at first sight?

Someone is not happy with this newfound relationship. There is someone so angry that they are willing to do anything to break up this happy couple. Even if they have to kill someone to accomplish it.

LIVIN' AIN'T EASY by Peron Long was an okay read. It lacked the suspense I felt it could have had. I also felt the story was predictable and repetitive at times. The relationships in the story were a little too cut and dry for me. I would have liked to see more characterization, especially with one particular character. I did enjoy Mr. Long's style of writing, it moved fast and had me turning the pages. A quote that comes from within the book that I feel is fitting..."Baby, we live to learn so that we can learn to live."

Livin' Ain't Easy by Peron Long

Livin' Ain't Easy...it's the truth...the whole truth....nothin but the truth.
Devlin has loved a woman for years knowing that she'll never be his.
Simone has been labeled the devil's daughter since the age of eighteen because of her choice in love.
When Devlin meets Simone his entire body becomes filled with a sexual longing he's never felt before. Simone is in shock when she feels her lady's instant wetness as her eyes explore Devlin......the deception begins.

Rev. Jackson and Henry Carlisle are total opposites, yet they're loving fathers. Grammy Essie was highly favored by GOD....you'll enjoy meeting her spirit. Reading about Jacob Brown will remind you to call your best friend....just to say "I love You".
The characters are so endearing you'll want a sequel...just to read more about them. The people, places and sayings will remind you of someone you know. Devlin and Simone will take you on a journey filled with emotions. Their road to true love nearly cost them their lives but they refuse to give up.
If you believe "love conquers all", you haven't tested it against betrayal, deception, hatred and pure insanity.

This story is well written, and flows from page to page. The author succeeds in exposing the reader to southern culture, from the pulpit to the bedroom.

Peron has written an "I can't stop til I finish" book.....read it and see for yourself that Livin' Ain't Easy....or just ask Darius Lovehall and Nina Mosley....

Peron Long has delivered yet another edgy tale! Can Devlin and Simone overcome the obstacles before them- especially Leslie, who will stop at nothing to have the man she loves- in her own crazy way.... You will not be able to put this page- turner down! Peron is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with his fast-paced, in your face, style of story-telling. An absolute must read!
