The Hottest Hot Boy is back and better than ever. This is his best cd since 1997, even though his last cd Checkmate was hot (better than Chopper City in the Ghetto), he shines without the help of the Cash Money Millionaires (Juve, Turk, Lil' Wayne, Mannie, & Baby). This cd establish him as a true Legend of the Game. After departing ways with Cash Money Records, it was said, "he could not resume his career without the help of Fresh and the Hot Boys." Well, he's here to stay. He needs to keep dissing CMR for dropping like Mack 10; Hood Rich, garbage; 500 Degrees, so so; The Birdman, not fly at all. By the way, where ya at Juve and Turk, the fans haven't heard from ya since you left the CMR family. B. Gizzle proves he was the cornerstone of Cash Money Records with this disc. From tracks 1 through 18, he displays his thuggish lyrics with hard knocking beats. The street tales he demonstrates on this disc were long overdue. He finally has put the bling, bling sh-t to rest. Sorry Cash Money for dying without B.G., but life goes on. Baby stop try to sell B.G.. CMR is due to release a new Hot Boys CD 3/25/03 with B.G. on the disc. Rest in Peace Cash Money, it's all about Chopper City..

b.g. is capable of more,

Let's face it, even while B.G. was on cash money records, he was the underachiever. His albums were not promoted as well as Lil Wayne's. Then again, Chopper City in the Ghetto struck platinum and Checkmate hit gold status quickly. On Livin Legend, the former Hot Boy hits his listeners with around 30 tracks of gangsta rap, albeit unoriginal. The major problem is the production. Like it or not, Mannie Fresh's beats suited B.G.'s rapping style. B.G. has found some decent producers in Ke-Noe(C-Murder's former producer) and Kidd. Problem is, these guys have been producing for underground artists for most of their lives and their production does not agrre with a seasoned veteran such as B.G.. Despite this flaw, Livin Legend is capable of commercial success. On the first single, "Hottest of the hot", the production manages to come through in a major way. The highlight of the album however, comes on the second disc on a collaboration with ex- no limit soldier Soulja Slim. The two compliment each other's style perfectly, leaving the listener eager for their group disc.

Without a doubt, BG's back and producing good music. The beats on this CD are awesome, which can make up from his sometimes annoying voice in the CD. Regardless, the CD is still awesome. You'd just have to be used to his voice. Still, 5 stars.

BG dropped the ball on his first independent release. The production is top notch and BG's lyrics and flow have never been better. It's just that the album is a little too flashy. Some of The beats are at times forced and too redundant and reliant on sound effects. Another problem is that EVERY guest rapper is WACK and they mess up the flow of the song and BG's vibe on the album. Speakin of the vibe of the album....it is almost the same the entire way through. Yep that's right....you get nearly 40 tracks of BG's slow flow. Don't get me wrong his flow is gangsta to the fullest but 40 tracks of it will put ANYONE to sleep. Trim that number down to about 15 please. From the 40 tracks you can conclude that this a double album which was a mistake for BG to release. Even some of the best rappers ( B.I.G. , Jay-Z, Too Short, Kurupt, etc. etc.) can't hold your attention for a double album let alone BG. Even Double disc GREATEST HITS compilations are a chore to listen to. Add on to that nobody has time to listen to an ENTIRE double album. Why do rappers continually put out double albums?!?He should have taken the Nas route and just kept the albums comin instead of drowning the listener in a myriad of songs and titles in one release that makes it difficult to fully digest the songs. Having had this album for two or three weeks...I couldn't recite to you a single lyric or chorus nor tell you the name of any of the songs ( except for 'Hottest Of The Hot"). Now this doesn't mean that there aren't any good songs, because there most certainly is, it's just that you have to do too much work to get to them. The album is not wack it's just too much at one time. Songs I Like From the 1st disc: Real Niccaz Real B....., I'm Out There, Keepin It Gangsta, Battem Up, Only 4 U, RIP, Just Like That, Reality Check, Shoot Em Up & Bang Bang. Songs I Like From the 2nd Disc: Hottest Of The Hot, F... That Sh.., Thought I Was Gone, In The Hood, The Second Line, If you combine those songs into one disc you have a 5 star album...instead you have a muddled mess of an album. Not to mention that all he raps about is drugs and killing so over 40 tracks yes you do get tired of it and yes some of it becomes cliche. I wouldn't exactly recommend this album but I wouldn't tell a fan not to get it. There are some gems sprinkled throughout just not enough for me, an avid music collector and fan, to listen to this album more than twice over a 6 month period. I just have too many albums to be sifting through a double album lookin for the hot songs. 2.5 stars.

It's been a minute but B. Gizzle is back and hotter than ever. I haven't heard a BG album like this since "It's All On U Vol. 2". The production is slammin' and the lyrics are hot. His format is still the same, but it still catches ya ear. I think he made a positive move to go independent with his own label. CMR has suffered a great loss. BG was the foundation of CMR way before albums like 400 Degreez, The Block is Hot, and the Hot Boys. Don't get me wrong, the Hot Boys have a lot of talent, but BG always stuck out the most. Major BG fan......If you like this album check "Chopper City" and "It's All On U Vol 2."

Five Star Album,
By "miss_lady" (Dirty South) - See all my reviews

This was one of the few albums this year that I just went out and bought without hearing any cuts. Despite the fact that I didn't even know it was out...when I listened to it, I was very pleased; it is was way better than Baby's CD which I had bought a month before...(very disappointed, Baby got very close to being thrown out the window). Take chemistry and talent of Master P(IN HIS UNDERGROUND DAYS) and mix it with a MC Eight's (LA) gangsterism - take it to another level and you get the hottest boy B. Gizzle. I didn't pay much attention to the production because I must say that if I heard the lyrics or the beat more clearly didn't really matter...both were the best I have heard in a while and the CD is tight. This is raw, uncut talent from the streets of N.O., not forgeting were cash money started from, it has gangsta flava and some "bounce" (bootleg cd) for the "real" southern playas. The only minus I might add is that less that half the ablum is a diss to Cash Money, and B. Gizzle doesn't need to do that to shine. Its ok though and kinda funny, but B.G. has always been the tightest rapper out of the whole click, and has proved himself with this album. Don't forget where the bling, bling started.....

Original HotBoy,
By TB (Dirty South) - See all my reviews

This is a must have for true Hot Boy fans. Bg puts out a "fire" album after the mediaocre Checkmate album. Its seems as if Geezy has something to prove after his departure from CMR. The retail copy is much much better than the advance bootleg copy that has been out for months. Gizzle roasts his former labelmates Baby and Wayne on several joints on this album. The only thing missing on this cd is guest appearences from Juvenile and Turk. Go cop this album......
