Review
"As usual, rather than offering standard "Psychobabble" Buntman provides the information that Moms of ADHD children need to hear. Buntman offers the practical and useful methodology needed to deal with a very difficult problem. Parents of ADHD children need solutions not theories. I highly recommended this book. --
Dr. Robert C. Davison, Psychologist and Director of Psychological Services for Yorba Park Medical Group "I have just completed reading your book, Help For Moms With Hyperactive Kids and found it well written. As both a school counselor and a parent of an attention deficit child I related to many of your examples. I wish that your book were around when I was seeking help and understanding for my own child. Chapters' Six and Seven contain good examples of how to relate to a child's misbehavior." --
Robert S. Jeffrey, M.A., School Counselor "This book provides essential information to all parents of children with ADHD. It is a practical guide with real solutions for dealing with the everyday frustrations and behaviors of the ADHD kid." --
Terry Cummings, M.S.W., ACSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker "This is the best information on helping parents with their ADHD children I've seen in over 30 years as a Psychologist who specializes in working with children and teen ADHD -- it is compelling! Every parent who has ADHD children must have this book. There are important skills every parent needs to know. After reading the book, every parent will be immediately able to put these skills into practice in their family." --
Dr. Paul Wittenberg, Psychologist, ADHD Specialist"This book gives more practical and succinct information to parents than any other book I've used in my 27 years of practice. Not only is this book helpful for parents, it is equally helpful to psychologists, teachers and the MFCC working with children and families. This book gives the parent and the professional a very well organized format from which to work/parent from." --

From the Author
I have a severe case of ADHD and because of it I had a miserable childhood, adolescence and college years. It took me 12 long, long years to graduate from college. I would sit with my books in front of me for days and literally years and just couldn't learn. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't learn. When I finally graduated from college, I had a 2.2 grade point average on a 4.0 system, barely above a C.
When I applied for Graduate Schools they didn't want to take me because they thought I couldn't do the work. I graduated from college in 1968 and back then, no one knew about ADHD. As a matter of fact, the IQ test that were given to me said I could do well, so when I couldn't learn, I felt like a failure.
I knew there was something wrong with me because I just couldn't get it. I thought it was my fault. I knew I had problems, I didn't know what they were, and I felt deep down there was something really, really wrong with me. I developed a devastatingly poor self-esteem.
I spent a good part of my life feeling about two inches tall.
My parents were always criticizing me. Why can't you graduate college? Why can't you do this, why can't you do that?
If I would ask you, the reader, to please stand up, flap your arms and fly, physiologically, you can't do it. People with ADHD have an extremely hard time learning, focusing, concentrating and paying attention in school.
I wrote this book to give the parents of ADHD children ways to get their child to behave at home and learn in school. The methods in the book work; I know, I am an example. Every child wants to do well, get approval from his parents and do well in school. Because of the nature of the ADHD child, it is very hard.
This book was written from my heart to your heart so your ADHD child can grow up to be successful and with good self-esteem.
The material that tells parents specifically an in detail what to do to get their kids to behave at home was developed as a result of doing over 20 years of psychotherapy with families and children and teens of ADHD. I developed this never-published-before method of specifically telling families what to do to get their kid to behave as a result of doing counseling and therapy with hundreds and hundreds of families of children and teens with ADHD. This material has never been published before and I am proud to offer it to parents. Again and again parents tell me when they use our methods consistently, they see dramatic improvements in the child and family life. There isn't any greater blessing I know than helping an ADHD child behave at home and learn at school. This book can dramatically change your child's life and your family's life.
