I bought 2 of these chairs on impulse. After I finished and assembled the first chair I was a bit disappointed in the size. It sits low and isn't very wide either. It actually feels like a step up from a childs chair. It is however a solid piece of furniture and it looks good. If you're over 5'6 or 170 lbs this chair won't do.

However the finished product is well worth it. A little tricky to collapse and open until you catch on. You will not find anything close to the quality or price in adirondack chairs. I did hours of research on the net and couldn't find a better bargain. If you hate assembling and following instructions avoid these chairs. If you don't mind putting in the effort go for it. I ordered 3 chairs and later two more. I really do like them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice alternative to a full price chair, June 28, 2010

I picked up 2 of these at Ace over the weekend for $39 each; the first one took 1.5 hours to assemble and the second 1 hour. It would have gone a lot quicker if I had my drill or electric screwdriver with me, as every part is connected with a phillips head screw.

I would call this the frugal person's alternative to a classy chair. The chairs will need to be stained plus poly'd or painted, which will add at least another couple of hours. If you like this kind of project to do yourself, then you can get 2 nice chairs for under $100 including paint. But if you don't have the time or the inclination, then I might advise getting a preassembled chair that is already stained.

FYI the fold up feature is great, I can make sure my pets stay off!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Deal, September 28, 2010

These chairs are a great value. It does take 45 minutes to an hour to put together but it isn't difficult. We painted ours and they look great. Some pieces of the wood you sit on are flimsy but not all. So try to bend them and if there are ones that bend, put those towards the front of the chair to lower chances of breaking.

I had no difficulty putting this chair together. I stained mine blue with all weather stain and painted a UF logo on it. Love that I can fold it up and move it easily. I would/will definately purchase another one of these chairs if I am in the market.

I bought 2 of these chairs for my husband's birthday. We have a great firepit and I thought this would be a "homey" kind of addition. They arrived before estimated delivery date. When he went to build them (some assembly required!) one of the chairs had a broken part. He called the number that was enclosed in packaging and was told the part would arrive in 5-7 business days. The part came in 4 days by FedEx and we enjoyed sitting by the firepit tonight in what I consider VERY comfortable chairs. I also think they will be easier to store for the winter!

For money paid, assembly was easy easy, all pieces there, extra screws. Comfortable to sit in. Should've stained everything first before assembly, would have been easier. Looks good.

4.0 out of 5 stars High marks for quality and price, August 5, 2010

In terms of Adirondack chairs, this is choice material for possessing both good quality and a good price.

The unassembled chairs arrive as pine boards and 53 screws plus about ten nuts, bolts, and washers.

Assembly was an easy hour and a half per chair with a power drill. I am a person who enjoys using my hands. Do not buy these chairs if you don't like to do the labor, just spring for a pre-assembled and painted one, but it will cost you. Also, I would not do these chairs without a power drill, it will take you all day.

The assembled piece is sturdy, and will take your paint color of choice without a primer because the naked wood takes paint well. Nice chairs to lounge on or even study on, super comfortable. Grab your beverage of choice and climb on!
