Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Over the centuries, many books have been written showing the connections between psychology and spirituality. However, never before has anyone succeeded in spelling out the psychological steps needed to attain spiritual consciousness. In this remarkable book, that is exactly what Dr. Thomas Legere has done. Coming from a truly remarkable background that includes degrees in philosophy, theology, spirituality, and psychology, Dr. Legere has the gift of being able to communicate profound truths in a clear and simple way. Finally, spiritual seekers will discover here what spirituality does and does not mean from a psychological perspective. Richly illustrated with helpful charts and diagrams, Living an Authentic Life will explain, in the everyday language of psychology, each step of the universal journey to wholeness. "Living an Authentic Life is at once an intensely personal journey as well as a deeply compelling exploration of the human path toward authenticity and integrity. This is a book for everyone who yearns to break out of the mediocrity of the unexamined life and plunge into self discovery and transformation. Thomas Legere has written a wonderful book for our times." Jose' Stevens, Ph.D. Psychologist and Author of Transforming Your Dragons and Secrets of Shamanism

5.0 out of 5 stars Cultivating spiritual wisdom and psychological health , June 3, 2007
By John M. Schibik (Naples, Florida) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Through Legere's reflections we experience human life as a journey to becoming fully alive with each other on the earth in the cosmos in God. He captures the path from the naiveté of first innocence to the wisdom of second innocence as we awaken to who we are with, for, in, through, by, in-spite-of, and precisely because-of each other. Page after page I was astonished with the abundance of meaning incarnate in his personal and professional journey. He portrays the elegant truth that it takes a life time to grasp the simplicity of living in the freedom of God's creative, sustaining, and fulfilling power within us. It takes a life time to grasp the reality that our life is to be for each other as God is for us. 'Tis a gift to be simple. 'Tis a gift to be free. 'Tis a gift to teach. Thank you for the gift of your life and the simple elegance of your reflections on that life... so far.

If you are seeking direction on the spiritual path - and want to understand the journey from a psychological perspective, this is the book for you! Dr. Legere discusses clearly and with great understanding and compassion the various stages of spiritual development and the meaning behind each one. I have read many books on the topic of the spiritual path, but this is the only book which takes us, step by step, through the process and is relevant to all religious backgrounds. A must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book!, March 29, 2008
Tom Legere's Living An Authentic Life is a beautifully written book that skillfully articulates and synthesizes a psycho-spiritual approach to healing and personal growth. It is wise, practical and user friendly! As a psychotherapist, I am using this book with my clients as bibliotherapy, which is particularly useful for people in addiction recovery, who are looking for a way to integrate their spiritual path with their psychological healing. This book is a beautiful synthesis of both the heart and mind!
