I used a former edition of this book when I was suffering from depression, really helped me to see things as they should be and helped to bring me out of that depression. I highly recommend this reading even if you are not suffering from depression.

Living Beyond The Daily Grind,
By Michael Taylor "Michael Taylor" (Indian Trail NC) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Living Beyond the Daily Grind (Hardcover)
"Living Beyond The Daily Grind" by Charles Swindoll is a collection of readings from 2 of the wisdom literature books of the Bible (Psalms, Proverbs) to address daily life issues which threaten to wear us down.
Several issues are covered in the 52 week devotion. Of course, the reader may want to shorten the reading period by reading more than one devotion on any given day. Some of the issues covered include: 1. Compromise 2. Uncertainty 3. Divine Silence 4. Worry 5. Difficult People 6. Feeling Overlooked 7. Ritual Religion 8. Sorrow and Grief 9. Impatient Arrogance 10. Laziness 11. Imbalance 12. Displeasing God These are just a few of the many topics covered. Typically, each devotion is around 10 pages, consists of appropriate verses from Psalms or Proverbs, and concludes with some reflections on the topic and how we may deal with the issue in God's strength. A great and encouraging read. Recommended. |
