Another smashing sucess for the MS community!,

This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
My expectations for this sequel were high, and I was not disappointed! I do feel it "went beyond" living with multiple sclerosis in making practical suggestions on how others have managed to fight the inner foe and live better, more productive and more enjoyable lives despite this disease. I'm a former member of "the froup," and it was refreshing and fun to reconnect with this bunch of indomitable ladies who have cared enough to share themselves with others in an encouraging and pleasant manner. I highly recommend this book! I've had MS 27 years; there are valuable insights here.

The Best Yet,
This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
Living With Multiple Sclerosis was an incredible book. I have been fortunate enough to read the sequal prior to it's release. It is even more supportive than the first. There is something for everyone in this book! It provides comfort and support. It allows us to laugh at a disease that has taken so much away from us. And it gives us an opportunity to cry with others. Living with MS is hard enough, but to do it without the help of this book is even harder. It is a definite must read for anyone that has any contact with a person who has MS....family, friends, doctors, nurses. There is not one person that can read this book that will not come away understanding more. Take some time out and read this book! You will not be sorry that you did!

Judith Nichols and the Buds are back better than ever! The conversations roll about their experiences in everyday life with the disease they call the MonSter! I am glad to see a sequel to the first book, and have to say that I am happy to see the addition of some new faces! Some of the newer additions to the Buds are newly diagnosed, or undiagnosed and waiting. This adds a whole new scope of experiences to the group. I love the book's format; having the real conversations of the Buds carry the information to the readers. It is a book that I think all women with MS should read, and one that should be shared with family members and caretakers. There is a wealth of information about what these women deal with everyday, while still maintaning their goals in life. They come across as strong and determined women, and as women that any of us might know as a neighbor or relative. Wonderful!

Best book on MS I've gotten so far.,
This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
I have purchased many books on MS since I got diagnosed in February and this one is the best by far. Just hearing other women talking about just about everything I've experienced. It's like inviting some friends over to your home that have MS too.

This book is excellent. It helped me tremendously. As I read I could relate to the things they were talking about. It has helped me track my symptoms of MS back around 15 years.

Stories drawn from an on-line support group of women,

This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis is a collection of personal stories drawn from an on-line support group of women suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. This compendium of updated information on the sometimes elusive MS diagnosis; sustaining positive doctor/patient relationships; the newest MS treatments; maximizing treatment benefits; Social Security Disability and other insurance benefit applications, as well as household accessibility and tips for choosing and correctly using assistive devices presents Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis as an invaluable informational resource that is informative, and occasionally inspiring. Judith Nichols and her online community of women have rendered a truly invaluable service, the results of which are highly recommended for personal, professional, medical center, and community library health reference collections and reading lists.

How to review a book that is not yet on the market,
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
I have assigned a rating to this book only because my comments would not be posted without it. I would rather not have rated the book because it is just now being released and has yet to hit the shelves of bookstores. Although, i will say, that being a part of the flutterbud group, and having participated in the creation of the publication, i am in the unique position of having shared in its contents. I find it rather amusing, and puzzling that the first reviewer of this publication did so without reading the book! It must be very difficult to review a book that hasn't left the publishing house! His/Her review, written on October 5th, clearly prior to the date that the book was released from the publisher, appears to be based on rage and hostility rather than reality. I would suggest that a more private arena should be sought when dealing with emotional issues, and that one should at least make sure all their ducks are in a row before blowing them out of the water. This "non" reader might want to deal with anger in a more theraputic manner, as in relaxing with a good book. I just happen to know of a one...

Another triumph,
This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
Another triumph as beneficial to those with MS as the first book was, I'm sure. I'd like to see more original, personal writing by this author. Her Introduction is so clear and crisp--let's "hear" more.

Not so much really,
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Beyond Multiple Sclerosis: A Women's Guide (Paperback)
This book is all about women's personal experiences, mostly negative. The only part of the book that was about living BEYOND multiple schlerosis was the last chapter or two. Perhaps I'm just not in the right stage of MS to understand what was going on here. I skipped the chapters about housework and clothing. I can imagine talking to my best girlfiends about that (which the women in this support group were) but I didn't think it made very interesting copy. I also found the some of the in-group terms used, MonSter, froup, flutterbugs, a bit silly and off-putting.
