Book Description

Living with a Pet February 1, 2001
The Border Collie was specially bred as a hardy work dog on the farm or ranch, and it also makes a fine pet. But it becomes unhappy unless it has lots of space for roaming. Titles in this growing series are for inexperienced owners and prospective owners of a pedigreed dog. Is the dog appropriate for an owner who merely wants a companionable house pet? Is it an active animal that needs vigorous daily exercise? Is it good with kids? Will it make a reliable guard dog? Is it unusually susceptible to health problems? This book offers an in-depth look at the special characteristics and needs of the Border Collie. Full-color photos and eye-catching sidebar features throughout the book. .

Now Comes with Bonus DVD at No Added Cost!
The brand-new hour-long dog training instruction program is specially designed to help dog owners who have little or no experience in obedience training.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Dita Kilsby's love of Border Collies started nearly 25 years ago when she was given Shep for her 11th birthday. She started her Tamarsh Kennel in 1989, producing several Championship Show winners, and one Show Champion. Dita passionately believes that breeders should not lose sight of what the Border Collie was bred for. "We must all work hard to retain the beautiful looks, intelligence, athleticism, versatility, and working ability that sets this breed apart from the others," she states.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living With A Border Collie, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Living with a Border Collie (Hardcover)
If I were to write this book, I'd title it "Coping With a Border Collie", but the book was pretty much on target as I read the book at work. You have to know one or own one to understand. My Border Collie is more like a "borderline disorder" Collie, along with the herding and devotion to family, it has a mind of its own. This is a great book to read and own, really enjoyed stories from actual owners.
