Interesting book, but readers need to explore other works for smoother & better understanding!,
By Lee Say Keng "KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURER/TECHNOLOGY... (Ho Chi Minh City/Singapore) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Living Deliberately: The Discovery and Development of Avatar (Paperback)
I was actually introduced to 'Living Deliberately' which I read way back in the early 90's, as part of my new journey to design & craft the second part of my life.
At that point in time, I found it to be somewhat esoteric. In a nut shell, there are actually three important parts in the book: - the first part deals with the author's personal awakening & transformation; - the second part outlines the working philosophy behind the proprietary & expensive AVATAR training, which the author has created based on his personal awakening & transformation; - the final part covers belief system, experiencing reality & creating thoughtforms; to be more precise, about how our beliefs create our thoughts, in turn, how our thoughts create our experiences (& how we can discreate them at will); these aspects form the philosophical foundation of the AVATAR training; Frankly, I didn't quite enjoy reading the book in the beginning, although it introduced me to the 'working mechanism' behind belief engineering. I was hooked & went on to read & explore other works, especially Bruce Doyle's 'Before You Think Another Thought'. To me, the author of this book did a much better job in explaining the many aspects of belief engineering. Many thanks to you, Bruce! For readers who are still interested in reading 'Living Deliberately', I would suggest a companion book to go along, i.e. 'Resurfacing: Techniques for Exploring Consciousness' (also by Harry Palmer), which has a series of 30 practical exercises. These specially tailored exercises will give readers the 'world experience' of being in control, rather than absorbing more 'word experience.' It is definitely worth exploring! [Let me explain: 'Word experience' refers to the initial & reflective responses you have when you are just reading a book; 'world experience' refers to the assimilating responses you have when you put all or some of the ideas you have learned from the book to work in your own life!] Alternatively, readers can access the Star Edge (the people behind the AVATAR training) website to explore more e-material at no cost. My final advice to readers: Approach all AVATAR related books & other resources with an open mind. Don't reject their ideas prejudicially. Play, explore & experiment with them!

This book tells the story of Harry Palmer and his journey to higher awareness. It is filled with interesting stories. I thuroughly enjoyed it. I'm not convinced that his training is worth $2,400, but I liked the book. If your interested, there is also a book called Resurfacing which has many of the exercises from the first couple of days of the Avatar training.

Now really living!,
By Charles Wildbank (Westhampton Beach, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living Deliberately: The Discovery and Development of Avatar (Paperback)
I didn't realize the transforming power of this book til some of its lines stopped me in my tracks for a frozen moment in time, the auspicious statement: I am a belief that believes. What is he talking about, I thought? Further reading yields more gems: ...reality is anything we believe it to be! Then: we create possibility by believing ourselves into it, and we dissolve limitation by believing ourselves out of it! This is so contrary to what life supposedly had taught me. Then the author describes how we can encounter word lessons daily but what about world lessons, actually carrying out and applying it, to see if it is so. I tore out the card in back and took my course of Resurfacing for this world lesson recently. It exceeded my expectations! And I am feeling on top of creation and enjoying creating ever more. I highly recommend this book. I gave it a 4 and you can get the other 1 point by taking the course and then give it a 10!

One hears a lot of psychobabble about how 'we create our own reality' but here is a solid, compelling description of an investigation into the processes through which we shape our own experiences - a must read for anybody interested in personal evolution (and beyond!). It could transform your life...

Harry Palmer has discovered the secret of how to live life in a deliberate way. In this delightful, entertaining narrative of his own explorations in consciousness he tells how he discovered the insights to develop a course which offers experiential tools that everyone can use to create the life they prefer. The book is easy to read and offers much food for thought. I have read and reread it. Every time, I take away a new "word" lesson which deepens my understanding of my self. Very worthwhile reading for anyone who is searching for a way to create happiness in their life.

Wait untill you take the course! Harry Palmer outlined the mechanics of conciousness and found a way (for anyone who wants) to explore the most intimate realm exisiting for any individual. Some people say it's a complicated book. Some people say life is complicated. The invitation from Palmer is to become very interested in it, and explore for yourself. The results a stunning. This modern mind technology really works! Beyond meditation, beyond therapy...Read this book and get the feel of what life is all about and what you can contribute to it!

Refreshing and real,
By
This review is from: Living Deliberately: The Discovery and Development of Avatar (Paperback)
Living Deliberately describes Harry Palmer's enlightening discovery of how a person can quiet the mind and create a belief with such certainty that they experience it as reality. His realness is refreshing, as he takes us with him through the wild ride of the sixties up to his 8 weeks in the flotation tank that led to his breakthrough insights in 1986. He clearly presents the philosophy of Avatar, the course he developed to teach others to have the experiences he has had. And he shows how working on oneself can transform the collective consciousness that influences us all. As he puts it, "Each moment of happiness is a gift to the rest of the world." This is a man you would love to invite for a latte and chat with about what life is all about.

An APPETIZER before the rest of OUR LIVES,
By Brenda Avadian, MA "TheCaregiversVoice.com" (Pearblossom, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living Deliberately: The Discovery and Development of Avatar (Paperback)
Every now and then, a message will illuminate the path we walk and provide a meaningful guide for the philosophical questions we ask about our lives. During the past decade, I have read Living Deliberately, three times. From achieving source (awareness without definition) to our beliefs (filtered perceptions), we get an appetizer before the rest of our lives. Some of the morsels sampled during this reading: Honesty (the courage to face what we fear); Fear (our belief in our inadequacy to deal with something); Regret: a break in higher self trust. Consider (abridged): The only real difference among us is the beliefs we create. Beliefs can be created and discreated.

Prior to reading Living Deliberately, I'd read every book on consciousness, philosophy, self-help, and metaphysics I could get my hands on. Nothing - and I mean NOTHING - opened the door to exploring my own consciousness the way this book did. It will amaze and inspire you! Get this book along with ReSurfacing (also by Harry Palmer) and you're on your way to the most inspiring adventure you'll ever take. After you read them run, don't walk, to sign up for the next course you can find!
