From AudioFile

In this program, available only on audio, author and narrator Joel Osteen inspires listeners with thoughts on how to live in God's favor. His illustrations and commentary come from his most popular sermons. Subjects range from letting go of the past, not limiting God, and acquiring a grateful heart to tips on mood control, relaxation, and living within God's joy. Osteen's high-energy and often-humorous delivery combine with his hopeful "can-do" messages as they are delivered to the membership of America's largest church community--Lakewood Church. He believes life problems occur to help believers stretch and grow, not to hold them captive to negativity. With warm encouragement, he urges listeners not to settle for anything less than God's peace. Osteen's fans will recognize both his stories and his exuberant delivery. More About the Author

Joel Osteen is a native Texan and the Pastor of Lakewood Church, which according to Church Growth Today is America's largest and fastest growing church with over 38,000 attendees. On July 16, 2005 after completing $95 million dollars in renovations, Joel moved Lakewood Church into its new 16,000 seat home -- the former Compaq Center which is now the largest regularly-used worship center in the United States. According to Nielsen Media Research, Joel is the most watched inspirational figure in America. His weekly sermon is broadcast into television markets across the U.S. where it is viewed by seven million Americans each week and more than 20 million each month. His weekly broadcast is also seen in almost 100 nations around the world. In 2004 his first book, Your Best Life Now was released by Time Warner debuting at the top of the New York Times Bestsellers List and quickly rising to #1. It remained on the New York Times Bestseller for more than 2 years and has sold more than 4 million copies. Most recently, Joel was named as one of Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2006" and he was selected as the "Most Influential Christian in 2006" by the readers of Church Report Magazine. The son of John Osteen -- a highly respected minister of the Gospel and the founder of Lakewood Church -- Joel attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he studied radio and television communications. In 1982, Joel returned to Houston and founded Lakewood's television ministry where he produced John Osteen's televised sermons for 17 years until January 1999 when his father passed away. For many years John Osteen encouraged Joel to preach, but he always declined preferring to work behind the scenes. In early 1999, Joel felt compelled to accept his father's invitation and he preached his first sermon on January 17th of that year. Little did anyone know that would be the last Sunday of John Osteen's life. Two weeks later Joel began preaching and later that year was installed as the new Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church. Almost immediately, weekly attendance began to grow at an extraordinary rate and, in 2005 Joel moved Lakewood Church into its present location, the former Compaq Center, a 16,000 seat arena that was once home to the Houston Rockets professional basketball team. Now, with his wife Victoria and the leadership staff of Lakewood, this innovative church is poised for the new millennium. Joel's extraordinary success can be found in his core message: That our God is a good God who desires to bless those who are obedient and faithful to Him through Jesus Christ. It is Joel's deepest desire that his own life be an example of that principle and that everyone who hears this message of hope and encouragement would choose to accept God's goodness and mercy and to become all that God wants them to be.

I just keep listening to these messages from Joel over and over. They make you think and also make you realize the past is in the past, forgive yourself and go forward. And we are all here to serve a purpose, focus on that and not the spilled milk, dust on the TV or the guy who just cut you off in traffic! Be grateful, we truly have so much to be grateful for. Find something and keep focusing on the positive things. Everyday we wake up with a choice, positive or negative in the way we live our life. I found these CD's help to keep me focused on what I want to be focused on. Thank you Joel and Victoria!

Joel Osteen is the epitome of a positive mental attitude teacher and sage. To be able to buy 10 of his sermons at Amazon's fantastic purchase price is a gift in and of itself. This CD set (set of 5 CD's with 2 sermons dealing with a particular topic on each CD) is well worth the money and the time to sit and listen and glean insight into being the SUCCESS that sometimes is hidden within us!

Joel's uplifting messages, on these CD's, are a breath of fresh air in this audio, of "Living in Favor, Abundance and Joy", Joel delivers `FEEL GOOD' theology, I highly recommend it, you will find that his sermons can put you back on the road of righteousness and peace beyond all understanding.

Joel's way of preaching may not be what the experience Bible reader is wanting or expecting but for those such as myself it just may be a stepping stone to Christianity. It certainly has given me something to think about and I sure needed it. I love Joel's positive message, I personally like his "Theology-Lite" style he might not be a great preacher, but to me he is a great motivational speaker.

He is my favorite minister ever and is the minister for me. I have seen so much of God's unprecedented favor since I started following his teachings. the fire and brimstone stuff is a turnoff for me. His words have made me feel closer to God and to others. He shares my opinion that spirituality should be about love and joy and kindness and doing great things OUT OF LOVE and NOT FEAR. Fear is NOT part of God - it comes from the enemy God is LOVE and fear has no part in love. I have no affiliation or association with Joel Osteen ministry or any other ministry, I have my own personal relationship with God and I hope all of you do too. God bless you all!

I was already a big fan of Joel Osteen and I was not disappointed after listening to these CDs. He makes you look at things
from God's perspective, with a great sense of humor and it comes so natural to him. He is so encouraging and uplifting that you can't help but feel better about yourself and want to start living your life in the way God wants you to.
It has also helped my 15-year-old daughter deal with moodiness and being depressed.
I recommend it to anyone.

Great, wonderful, excellent, and encouraging messages! I love his style of preaching it is all from biblical point of view and definitely bible based. We all need encouragement in life to make us strong and make us rooted in our faith in God. He is right about the topic of that if you tell yourself over and over and over again what you are, who you are and what you can do, eventually you become what you say about you! that is why we need to be possitive all the time. It is hard to do, but we need to to do it! It takes disipline and practice. Great job Joel!
