Book Description

First published in 1974, this book helped foster new attitudes to the hereditary bleeding disorders by encouraging affected families to lead full and active lives. It has been well received by both the medical and general press and has been translated into many languages around the world. This new edition has been extensively revised and updated to include, in particular, a section on AIDS. Throughout the book, the subject matter is clearly explained in nontechnical terms. It is intended for a general readership, including the families of those affected by haemophilia, as well as their doctors and other caregivers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Haemophilia-an inherited sex-linked genetic disorder, June 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have found genetic disorders very fascinating to read about! Actually, the very first time I'd heard about haemophilia was by my mother who had done art work for a man whose wife had a father with this disorder. Unfortunately, this family had 5 of 7 children who had serious illnesses-2 with haemophilia, 2 with Cystic Fibrosis and a child with leukemia. Three of the 7 children died! 0nly 2 of those 7 children were clinically normal! By reading about hemophilia, I found out that it's a disorder which prohibits the blood from clotting when a child or adult injures himself! The wound continues to bleed! Hopefully, developments have been made to help people who have this serious disorder! Dawn E. Lowenstein
