5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Any Other Proteing Supplement
I recently switched to protein supplements in an attempt to build lean muscle. Whey protein worked well but left me feeling bloated. I stumbled across this product while looking for an alternative, and it is fantastic! No bloating, no bog down, leaves me feeling fantastic. The taste leaves something to be desired, but what can you expect? It's raw, organic, and has no...

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth it if you're willing to get used to it
This definitely has to be mixed with something to make it tolerable, and I think it may take a few tries to get used to it. I mix it with protein shakes; the flavors of the protein shakes fortunately dominate vs. the taste of the hemp powder. It's a little weird drinking a concoction that looks green but tastes like banana, but the health benefits are worth it to me. It...

I mix it with protein shakes; the flavors of the protein shakes fortunately dominate vs. the taste of the hemp powder. It's a little weird drinking a concoction that looks green but tastes like banana, but the health benefits are worth it to me. It is gritty however. At first I tried it plain and had to basically choke it down, but I guess it's grown on me. Bottom line: if you're dedicated to finding a good vegan source of protein and other nutrition, it's worth a try to experiment with it by adding it to smoothies and other recipes.

I stumbled across this product while looking for an alternative, and it is fantastic! No bloating, no bog down, leaves me feeling fantastic. The taste leaves something to be desired, but what can you expect? It's raw, organic, and has no additives whatsoever, so protein is all you get. Mix it with a bit of almond milk, almond butter, and a banana, and it's the best thing ever!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great in dairy smoothies!, September 14, 2006

I like it in banana-yogurt based smoothies. Also makes a great smoothie with a cup of non-fat milk, 1T peanut butter, 1 frozen banana and a couple of ice cubes.

I tried it mixed with a cranberry emergen-c pack and water. I don't recommend that unless you just need nutrition and don't care how it tastes. If I were going to go non-dairy, I'd probably go with vegetable juices, possibly apple cider. The hemp seed powder has a slightly nutty flavor that goes well with other nutty flavors, or pretty much disappears with a little vanilla.

1.0 out of 5 stars False Advertising, August 31, 2011

Why does Amazon allow companies to post information about products that are false. The Manufacturer states 2 tablespoons for 14 grams of protein. However, the container states you need to use 4 tablespoons for the same about of protein. basically you get half the protein or use twice as much as advertised. THis is just not right.

Just a note to those like me who are looking for a high protein concentration per serving: There is a customer image on this page from 2006 that shows 14g protein per 2 tbsp. Thus I ordered it. I received it today, and found the image to be outdated. The product I received has 13g protein per 4 tbsp. I uploaded up-to-date images to show this.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FALSE ADVERTISEMENT OF PROTEIN CONTENT. THE SUPPLEMENT LABEL STATES 2TBS AT 14 GRAMS PROTEIN. UPON RECEIVING IT I FIND IT IS 13 GRAMS FOR 4TBS, QUITE A BIT IN DIFFERENCE. WILL LOOK ELSE WHERE FOR MY SOURCE OF PROTEIN AND BUY IT OTHER THAN AMAZON.

This powder tastes very earthy (think vegetable fibers and peat) frankly. If you're consuming this, you're probably not particularly interested in drinking a milkshake (If you are, go to the Mickey Dees and grab a big ol' glass of milk and assorted toxins). This is not a product that is meant to "taste like candy", so if you are used to those designer whey powders that are full of sucralose and/or other artificial toxins and ridiculous flavors like "Super Duper Berry Cookie Crunch", then you will find this product to be very disappointing.

This product has very low solubility in water or milk, but mixes better with any freshly squeezed (non-factory-processed juices). Fresh squeezed juice will generally have pith, fiber, etc. left in it that adds to its viscosity and greatly lowers the rate of dissolution (how long it takes for the hemp to become 'unmixed' and sink to the bottom of the glass). Essentially, the thicker the solvent, the less that the hemp will settle. Additionally, having the juice at room temperature will further increase the solubility.

I might also suggest a shaker/bottle combination of some type, as opposed to an open glass stirred with a spoon. I use a BlenderBottle 28-Ounce with BlenderBall, Blue myself.

If you want a cheaper way to mix up milled hemp, please note that the above rules are applicable to canned tomato juice, since it is viscous, and stores well at room temperature (and is dirt cheap). Most of the time I take my hemp protein with a can of no-salt-added tomato juice (it is delicious and so easy to make for a low-carbohydrate, high-protein breakfast.

This product is pure and truly free of chemicals, there is only one ingredient: Cold-milled hemp protein, mechanically pressed (no reverse osmosis or other chemical processes are used on the hemp seeds). The reason that people consume this is for maximum nutrition. All you get is Protein, antioxidants, heart-healthy fatty-acids, and a little fiber (from the hulls), that is everything nutritionally in this stuff. It is awesome.

Yes, I was surprised by the color AND found the taste to my liking. It was fresh, clean and earthy. Also easy to use and a nutritional powerhouse.

I use it in iced tea, or mixed with yogurt, or in a frozen bananna smoothie.

I don't know why other people are complaining about the taste. I mixed it with almond milk and really liked it. Maybe the flavors go well together. In any case, it tastes a lot like every other protein powder I've tried, except without the disgusting synthetic sweetness.

I have been using this product for 3 or 4 years. For those of you who do not like the taste, try mixing it with chocolate. Mix it with chocolate ice cream(I use Soy Delicious, being a vegan). Chocolate seems to netralize the flavor of the hemp. I also mix a scoop of hemp protein with a bowl of oatmeal sweetened with cactus nectar. It tastes very good, provide you use the right amount of sweetner.
