I have been following Access Zero for a couple of years now on the internet. I discovered the band through Myspace when they sent me a friends request. I was immediately intrigued by their sound which is a mix of synthpop, electro, and rock. Living in Transition is the band's debut album through synthpop label A Different Drum records. The album is 57 minutes of in your face electro/synthpop sure to please fans of the two genres. What really struck me is the crisp synth beats. The synthesized beats is really upfront and drives the music home. The melodies are addictive to say the very least especially on the fifth track "Away", one of my personal favorite songs. The band does slow down a bit with the beautiful ballad "Let It Go" which starts off as a piano ballad and gradually builds up to a. I love the additional vocals by Rian Miller. The female/male dynamics of the song is wonderful. The band does a fairly decent version of Soft Cell's classic "Tainted Love". Their version isn't bad per say but it wasn't really necessary in my honest opinion. Overall Living in Transition is a solid debut album that I definitely recommend checking out.
