Living With Tarnished Vacuums, January 17, 2000

With their third album, the Naked Barbies have established themselves as a band to be reckoned with. From the gutteral, sassy attitude of "Itch", to the humor of the break-up duet "Darling", this album doesn't have a wrong note in it (except, perhaps, for the joke in the live hidden track "Pajama Party"). LIVING INDEPENDENTLY is precise, loaded with feeling and uncommonly good. A band to keep an eye on (and both ears) under their new name, The Vagabond Lovers. To date, though, with three wonderful albums, this is currently their best.
