Always interesting sentences that can be used to learn French and use in a conversation.
If I have a activity that day, I write it in French.

I am going to be brief here because I don't want to waste my time reviewing a product I hate.

I bought this for myself at Christmas last year to have for 2014, thinking that I would learn a *useful* phrase that would assist me when I returned to Paris. I had gone to Paris in the fall of 2012, done reasonably well with the language, and I wanted to build on that.

Well, not with this USELESS calendar.

Here's the bottom line: the phrases are all obscure abstractions, NOT everyday ones you would use trying to get around, etc.

Here are a few examples (in English) of the phrases contained in this calendar:

• "They honored all the soldiers killed in combat."
• "Brush your teeth well!"
• "The actress puts on makeup in front of her mirror."
• "He has been elected president."
• "This castle contains many secret passages." (I'm not kidding.)

SAVE your money. Don't believe the description on the box. I hate looking at this thing every day and today wrote my review because I had written in the calendar on today's date, "FORGET IT. THIS THING SUCKS. WRITE A REVIEW ALREADY."

This is the first time I've gotten one of these Living Language calendars, and I'm seriously thinking about ditching it and getting another calendar for my desk at the office. I've been pulling pages off the calendar for nearly the first two weeks of the year so far, but have thumbed through the balance of the calendar to get an idea of what was ahead, and couldn't believe it when I saw that the majority of the calendar was nothing but verbs. Last time I checked, the ability to converse with someone required sentences, and usually sentences consist of at least a noun and a verb. Did I receive a defective calendar or are the calendars like this every year?

And I like the quotes that are included on each page, except it really would have been nice to include the pronunciation for each phrase as well, so if one wanted to try to actually SAY them, one would know how. Of course, they DID include that day's verb, so at least one knows how to say ONE word of it.

Full disclosure: Haven't actually played the CD that came included with the calendar, so maybe I'm missing something and the two work hand in hand somehow.

But I definitely expected better word choices from the desktop calendar. Would be nice to have seen one day be a verb, the next day be a noun that would work in a sentence with the verb, the next day some grammar to fit it all together. If so, I might actually get the feeling during the year that I'm almost learning a little French, and not just random useless verbs.

I was torn between getting one of four different calendars for my desk this year; seriously thinking I made the WRONG choice.

We have bought this French calendar every year since we left Belgium where we had to speak the language daily. It gives us a super daily reminder of words, phrases, idioms, and a taste of French culture as well.

I was really excited about this calendar. I am hoping to take up french soon so I thought that I would start with this calendar. The daily phrases are actually quite difficult ( I know two other languages besides english). The first day I gave up on the phrase and moved on.

I have bought one of these for my desk for many years now, and will do so for each upcoming year that I'm around to care what day it is. Much fun, and a good deal of learning involved.

I have bought this for several years, hoping to 'catch on' to the French language, but find it merely entertaining. It shows pronunciation for only a word in the phrase given daily. You're left to guess your way through the rest of the often unusual phrases used.

The calendar is very useful for increasing vocabulary and reviewing grammar points. etc. The CD is also very clear and useful. Is there any way that you could include a CD with a native speaker reading the daily French phrases? I think that would be extremely helpful. Mercfi Beaucoup.
