I always purchase this as a gift for a relative and he really looks forward to tearing off the daily page !! We couldn't find one last year and he was very sad....he missed his pages. My new source from now on is going to be Amazon.com where you can get everything with no waiting in lines, looking for parking, wasting time and gas. Thank you Amazon , we love it. This calendar has new phrases every year and are fun to share with friends and family.

The Living Language calendar is a fun way to practice German and learn some interesting informaiton about Germany and German speaking areas and culture. I'm glad that it is available on Amazon because it is hard to find in bookstores.

I like this calendar. It's very simple. It would give you a word a day. There would also be a phrase or sentence accompanying the word. Sometimes I find these phrases useless as they tend to be ones that you wouldn't commonly use. Sometimes instead of a word, it will give you some historical or cultural background. These too, I don't find to be very informative unless you're into that kind of stuff. However, I think the words are good to add to your vocabulary. However, the phrases would be more helpful if you have some background on German grammar as it does not explain why something is written the way it is.

German Obsessed Here,

I watch German soaps, films and I'm overall obsessed with anything German. This calendar is fun; my only complaint is that it has a word of the day at the top of the page with its pronunciation. In the center of the page it uses that same word in a sentence. I wish it had the pronunciation for each word. I always look the sentence up just to be sure I'm pronouncing everything correctly. Once a week there's a short German history lesson, for the most part those aren't as interesting as they could be. All and all I'm happy. The word of the day is Pfeifen (PFI-fehn) to whistle. "Was pfeifts du denn?"
