Excellent - A Must Read,
This review is from: Living Lies (Hardcover)
This was such an enjoyable book....once I started reading, it was hard to put it down. It touches all of the elements such as mystery, suspense, humor, romance....you end up falling in love with Agent Melanie Ward. Kate Mathis did an excellent job making the reader feel like they were really a part of the story....I can't wait to find another book by Kate!!!

This book exceeded my expectations as an entertaining read with an unpredictable plot, appealing characters and interesting settings. I'm looking forward to seeing where Melanie's story goes from here, as the possibilities are endless and tantalizing. For a first effort, it's probably closer to a 5-star.

Great Debut!,
This review is from: Living Lies (Hardcover)
I was enjoying the story so much I read it through the night. It's nicely paced with enough drama and twists to keep things interesting. There were a couple points where it wasn't clear who was talking or, even once, what just happened but they are such minuscule bumps they don't detract from the overall story. Bravo to Kate Mathis on her debut novel. And please, please, please make this a series!

Okay, so I'm a guy and its not really a guy's book, but I like to read new authors. Kate is going places. Her writing style if fresh, funny in the right places, poignant when appropriate, scary in the espionage content (which I enjoyed the best). Young author with great promise.

I'm picky about my books ... and I loved this!,

This review is from: Living Lies (Hardcover)
I enjoy a good romance, mystery, suspense book, but I'd say I'm rather picky. I rarely stray from Nora Roberts, JD Robb or Janet Evanovich, but a friend recommended Living Lies and I couldn't put it down. The relationships in this book seem real. I love the estranged daughter/family relationship and the attempt to rebuild what was lost. Romance is also, of course, very important and there was plenty of that without being crude - which I appreciate. And the espionage side of it was exciting. I highly recommend it. I look forward to more.

Living Lies by Kate Mathis,

Living Lies by Kate Mathis - This is a great book! It has everything, intrigue, mystery, suspense and romance. The whole book is a fun read and goes quickly. It was hard to put down. Agent Melanie Ward is confident as a spy, but when she quits the Agency, she has difficulty adjusting to civilian life and her well meaning mom trying to find her someone to marry by setting her up with a marathon of blind dates. Melanie realizes espionage is much easier.
Highly recommend and has a surprise ending. Thumbs up! |
