`To live the life you truly love takes deliberate, soul-searching work to discover what you really want, why you don't have it, and how to go about getting it.'
I'm not going to lie to you, this book is going to make you think; it will take you on a journey of self-discovery, and when you're finished, you will be very glad you picked it up. I know I was.
And that book is Living the Life You Love!, which I loved reading.
I'm not particularly a fan of self-help authors who seem to claim, via their book, that they have all the answers, that they no longer make mistakes etc. And, of course, Paula Renaye is not one of those types of authors: she knows her stuff, all right, but she never claims to be the finished article. She shares examples in her life where she still struggles, and she shares examples where she's successfully taken her life in a better direction.
It all boils down to taking personal responsibility for your life - no matter what sort of start you got given, or how some people treated you.
And it's definitely about taking responsibility for those times when, via not knowing any better or via the powerful act of denial, you treated someone badly too. Even if that someone is you.
And this is the message that Paula shares in her book.
Some sample words that sum things up nice nicely:
"Choosing the no-nonsense, tough love approach takes courage... it's not about beating yourself up over where you are in this moment... [Instead,] acknowledge the past, accept responsibility... and focus on making better choices now." -- Paula Renaye
To be honest, I rarely recommend that people read self-help books these days.Read more ›
Then she provides practical self-discovery tools to move forward. If you're willing to do the work, this book lays out a path for tackling those intractable challenges that you might otherwise fail to overcome.
In the end, she tells us the truth based on her own experience. I can think of nothing more praiseworthy than that.
