when i bought this record...i had no idea how important...,

important this album would be. For me this album is very personal. It became a journey into myself, it presented a different way to look at my mistakes, face my choices and to own up to life and love in a new way. This is NOT a record to just throw on. Every time I listen to it, I am given a healthy shot of encouragement.
Listen to the lyrics closely and you may as well have a jouney into self-realization. There is a fine line between winning and losing the battle with keeping the high road and being ok about it. It's as if Carolyn Hudson is looking into her soul. She exposes her weaknesses and strengths so as to give you a new perspective into your own.

Fresh New Talent,

Fresh New Talent is an overrated and overused term, but when it comes to Carolyn Hudson it's right on the mark. She is an amazing new talent. Her songs are fresh and her voice is wonderful. Her CD "Living In My Skin" is entertaing and a joy to listen to. Some of the songs are infectious, you'll find yourself huming them after a listen or two.
Standout tracks are: I Don't Ask Why Patiently for Roses Dorothy

This entire CD has an incredible vision and songs that really resonate. Her voice is soulful and strong. "You Have No Idea" is a wonderful look at all the fabulous things we don't know about one another!

This is a beautiful CD. The lyrics especially are amazing - totally real. These songs are obviously very personal, but listening to them you feel like she's telling your story too. Very cool.

Liquid Smoke,

The smooth, smart, stylish sounds of this album hooked me. The honesty and emotion grabbed me at first, as did Carolyn's voice - a new sound, not just another me too - but then I realized I was really listening to the lyrics. She has something to say - to everyone - and each time I listen, I get drawn a little more in. Wouldn't call "Living" jazz, urban, folk, or pop, but a little bit of each. All coming together best in "My Old Tricks", the song that if you listen to only one, let it be this. I would love to see her perform live - I bet she has got it all in person!
